ATTENTION PACKAGING PRINTERS: Cut ink spend (and carbon foot print) with a ‘spectral’ method for easily reusing problematic leftover inks! Reusing inks left over from a flexo or gravure print run is vital for cutting ink spend and waste in package printing. But some returned inks are hard to reuse: if they’re contaminated, or if their colour varies from the target of a new job, for instance. In these cases, the spectral method gets these inks used easily: use the spectral data from leftover batches and create a recipe of a new target colour that comprises both return inks and fresh inks. Using this back-up method as well as the conventional ‘mathematical’ matters for all other situations, you can get all your leftover inks used before they expire! It means you cut ink spend, reduce waste and improve your sustainability record.
