Question for my fellow contractor/small business buddies out there..... ❓️When you're asked to quote for a fixed price project what method do you use to get to your price? 💲Lately, I've been quoting bigger and bigger jobs and always end up in a battle with myself trying to decide if I've got it right (or close enough). 📝 Depending on what upfront design information is provided (URS, P&ID & Signal List) I'll try to calculate the number of I/O and use this as the basis for my quote with the logic being the more I/O, the longer it will take. I've had a couple of budgetary quote enquiries and I've ended up spending a good few hours putting something together (when I should have been doing work I've already got POs for!) 🙃 I'd even created a Rockwell Automation IAB (Integrated Architecture Builder), which generated the BOM (Bill of Materials) that I could quickly use to get a price from Routeco for the hardware. Too many acronyms yet? 🤔 What do you all do to get to your price? *Edit - please excuse the doors being open on the PSUs I usually click on the CPU to close all the module doors before taking a screenshot. Also, given my preference (OCD) for organising the modules in a certain order I'm appaled at myself for going DO->DI->AI->AO when we all know it should be DI->DO->AI->AO. Please forgive me 🙏

General Revision 😊 Learn Keyboard Shortcuts: Familiarize yourself with common keyboard shortcuts in Revit. This will help you navigate the software faster and perform tasks more efficiently. Some important shortcuts include: CTRL + C (Copy) CTRL + V (Paste) CTRL + Z (Undo) CTRL + Y (Redo) CTRL + S (Save) CTRL + Tab (Cycle through open views) TAB (Cycle through elements in a selection set) F2 (Rename selected element) AL + F4 (Close active view or panel)

Wanting to have complex skills is very difficult for anyone. But I have filtered out what skills are needed by a civil engineer. That skill is using Microsoft office such as Microsoft Excel. I learned how to use the software properly and correctly. I found video tutorials on Youtube as a learning tool. And I successfully completed the learning and can reliably use Microsoft Excel. This is a link to my file that has been converted into a spreadsheet : https://lnkd.in/gmmB5EmQ when entering the "Data validation bertingkat" section in the spreadsheet, it does not match the original excel file. Here is the correct view:

AutoCAD was released in 1982. Excel in 1987. The abovementioned duo have been the kings of the site offices for the last three decades. My goal is to propose better solutions, aimed at the XXI century. I created an article (link in the comment) with a cheat sheet listing topics relevant to the construction industry and software features to meet the need. What do you think about this list?
