Each role I've taken has shaped my perspective, honed my skills, and prepared me to contribute to the industries I’ve been privileged to serve. At Isuzu East Africa 🚚 , I’ve had the opportunity to lead regional sales and operations, where the focus has been not only on achieving ambitious sales targets but also on building sustainable partnerships with dealers and customers. Through collaborative strategies and innovative distribution models, we are on track to post a 30% sales growth in 2024 through an expanded last mile reach, dealer network, fleet customers onboarding, and ensuring our products reach customers where they need them most. My time in the lubricants distribution sector 🛢️ was transformative, as I spearheaded efforts to ensure product penetration in every outlet in my region, posting an impressive 600% growth in three years. Every market presents unique expectations, but staying true to them isn’t always straightforward. Customer expectations can differ significantly across regions, and sometimes honesty about those differences doesn’t yield immediate rewards. Smaller branches often come with limited development opportunities and close-knit networks that can feel restrictive. When I shifted from a dealership to a local garage in the UAE, some questioned the choice. Yet it allowed me to develop new skills and perspectives—even as I started this path at 41. In some environments, there’s heavy emphasis on sales quotas, sometimes even leading to upselling that doesn’t always serve the customer’s best interest. Choosing to prioritize trust and transparency over these pressures has brought its own challenges. But I’ve learned that staying true to one’s principles ultimately holds lasting value. Sales is home for me. Whenever I join a new company a common question is, what are you goals for your career and where do you see yourself in 10 years? I never have a good answer, because personally I don't think that far....😂. I mean 3 years ago I couldve swore that I was going to be an airline pilot for Southwest..... Sales was the first place that I felt like I should be here, meeting fellow sales reps made me realize there are people that are just like me. In the sales enviroment I feel like I could be myself and the things that I have passions in correlate with sales. Like: meeting new people, talking about business and learning new things everyday. I dont see myself becoming a manger or changing careers I just see my self doing my current job and getting better every day I know a lot of people fall into sales as a last option but this was my only option from the very beginning.
