When you first started working with children, we bet you did not think it would feel this overwhelming or difficult to make the impact you wanted to make. Does any of this sound familiar: •A feeling of failure and disappointment because you cannot get it right for every child. •Spending hours researching the latest ways to support children but still left feeling confused. •Scrolling past doom and gloom stories about children’s poor mental health statistics and getting that feeling of dread that you do not know how to make it better. •Knowing there must be a better way to support children but unsure how to go about it. https://lnkd.in/e4ixXpB9

Ask R U OK? Any Day 💛 At Parkerville Children and Youth Care, we recognise the importance of mental health services and providing support for those around you. Through our services, we aim to provide support and resources to children, young people, and their families affected by trauma and other adverse childhood experiences. R U OK? Day is all about checking in and having open conversations about mental health with others, but it doesn't stop there; it encourages us to have these conversations year-round. You don't have to be an expert or have experienced what someone else is going through, being ready and willing to listen and learn is the most important element when having these conversations. Let's break the stigma around mental health and show one another that we care this R U OK? day. #RUOKDay24 #MentalHealthMatters #ChildProtection #ParkervilleCYC

Men's mental health month for me is a very key month. In 2021, there were 5,583 suicides registered in England and Wales. Around three-quarters of the suicides were males. Suicide is the largest cause of death for men under 50, a number that should never exist. Becoming a father is a profound and life-changing experience, but it also comes with its own set of challenges. Men’s mental health is often overlooked, especially when it comes to the pressures and responsibilities of parenthood. It’s important to recognize that fathers, just like mothers, can experience stress, anxiety, and even depression. By opening up conversations about men’s mental health, we can create a supportive environment where fathers feel comfortable seeking help and sharing their experiences. It’s crucial that we continue to raise awareness and provide support for mental health, especially for men who may feel unable to seek help. Let’s work together to break the stigma and ensure that everyone knows they are not alone. My inbox is always open for anyone who wants to speak openly. #MentalHealthAwareness #SupportEachOther #BreakTheStigma #YouAreNotAlone

If this resonates, know you’re not alone. Our practice offers specialized therapy to help process and heal from the negative mental health impacts of parentification, and we’re accepting new clients for virtual and in-person sessions. Children of all ages, even young infants, can experience mental health conditions. It can be challenging to know the typical behaviors and moods for a child’s developmental stage and if they have gone beyond the norm and need help. Download a Family Resource Kit: https://lnkd.in/gj7S9urD
