#DFR and #DroneDelivery share a lot in common: - both are fiercely competitive - both are reliant on #regulations and #BVLOS - lack of differentiated #capabilities between solutions - still infancy in terms of technology and industry - low dispatch reliability / only flying in fair weather (look at the #locations of their operations, nobody is flying in Seattle or Syracuse during shoulder season...) Yet, the biggest difference is the utilitarianism : #public vs #private good. DFR has real-world applications today that benefit communities, while drone delivery has difficulty scaling and has not been profitable (for anyone). But the former, is actually helping shape public perception for the latter - the two are linked, and for some reason, are still siloed. I believe that Axon (via DroneSense, Inc.) has a clear leg up on their market penetration, and that Zipline's P2 is THE platform to beat - if both of these companies execute flawlessly, the will have zero competition (but for now enjoy these renders).

The owners of MyDefence have sold the company to the international private equity fund Bridgepoint. 🚀   After a sales process that lasted a few months, the MyDefence owners have now sold the vast majority of the drone defence company.    "Interest has primarily been from financial investors, but also from industrial investors. However, among the owners, we quickly agreed that Bridgepoint shares our ambitions for MyDefence in terms of our direction and target markets. Moreover, Bridgepoint is an investor committed not just to extracting dividends but to investing in and growing the company," says Dan D. S. Hermansen, CEO of MyDefence.   MyDefence develops systems to combat and jam drones before they can crash into residential areas or critical infrastructure. DroneShield has secured a $5.7 million renewed contract from an existing US government customer, for its counterdrone systems, which target aerial, ground and maritime surface drones. The company said the delivery involves multiple DroneShield product lines and is expected to be completed in several stages throughout the remainder of the year. The company said as the drone threat continues to evolve and proliferate across domains in modern conflicts, Droneshield are honored to support the U.S. Government.
