The Advanced Air Mobility sector is witnessing a surge in innovation, with nearly 1000 eVTOL concepts listed on the directory. Amidst this diversity, three dominant designs are emerging: Multicopters, Lift + Cruise, and Vectored Thrust. Each design offers unique advantages and challenges, reflecting the industry's engineering freedom and optimization for specific use cases. However, as these trends unfold, it's crucial to monitor potential correlations with insurance and risk, driven by design choices and operational characteristics. Diverse yet vigilant, the industry navigates towards a #sustainable future in air mobility. About a third (35%) are Multicopters, where thrusters are fixed in place. Some (21%) are Lift + Cruise, with separate thrusters for vertical and forward flight. Almost half (44%) are Vectored Thrust, tilting some or all thrusters for both vertical and forward flight. #AdvancedAirMobility #eVTOL #Innovation Skyrisks

The Crucial Role of Elevators in Aircraft Pitch Control ✈️ Elevators play a crucial role in controlling an aircraft’s pitch attitude, directly influencing climb, descent, and overall altitude management. By adjusting the pitch, pilots can maintain level flight, initiate climbs or descents, and control airspeed. For instance, during a climb, elevators raise the nose, increasing the angle of attack. In a descent, lowering the nose reduces the angle of attack. During takeoff, elevators help lift the nose to initiate the climb, and during landing, they assist in controlling the descent angle and flare just before touchdown. Typically, elevators are hinged surfaces at the rear of the horizontal stabilizer. When a pilot moves the control yoke or stick forward or backward, the elevators deflect accordingly: 🛩️ Pulling Back on the Yoke/Stick (Elevators Up): This action deflects the elevators upwards, pushing the tail down and raising the nose, increasing the angle of attack and generating more lift for a climb. 🛩️ Pushing Forward on the Yoke/Stick (Elevators Down): This deflects the elevators downwards, raising the tail and lowering the nose, decreasing the angle of attack and reducing lift for a descent. Types of Elevator Designs👇 Different aircraft designs feature various elevator configurations: 📌 Conventional Elevators: Located on the trailing edge of the horizontal stabilizer, these are the most common type, operating via simple hinge mechanisms. 📌 All-Flying Tail (Stabilator): Used in some high-performance jets and small aircraft, a stabilator is a one-piece horizontal tail surface that pivots entirely to control pitch, offering efficiency at higher speeds. 📌 Canard Configuration: In canard designs, the pitch control surface is on a forward wing rather than a rear stabilizer, functioning similarly to conventional elevators by altering lift at the front of the aircraft. #aviationmaintenance #aircraft #aircraftlovers #aerospace #avionics #aviationlovers #aviation #airlines #pilot #engineering #aviationdaily #flightattendant #flightinstructor #airtrafficcontrol #privatepilot #navigation #cockpitview

How do the #Cessna Citation CJ3+, Citation CJ4 Gen2 and #Embraer Phenom 300E compare side-by-side? Check out the advantages offered by each model in Mike Chase’s most recent Jet Comparison! Where could the requirement be for Light Jet operators seeking a little more space and range, and which option would suit best for obtaining that extra performance? Does a higher available payload with full fuel always have to equate to higher operating costs? What can you expect to pay for new and pre-owned versions of these jets? We explore the price trends from Aircraft Bluebook and JETNET. How long the planes can glide after engine faliure Any plane can glide if its engines fail, with the distance and time it can glide depending on its altitude at the time of engine failure and its design characteristics. Pilots must know their plane's "best glide speed" to maximize distance covered without losing too much altitude, and "minimum sink speed" to extend gliding time. A jetliner could potentially glide about 100 miles (161 kilometers) if its engines failed at 30,000 feet (9,144 meters), though such an event is extremely rare in modern aviation.
