How do we know if our charity contributions are making a real impact? In India, over a million NGOs are working on critical issues and figuring out which ones deliver meaningful, measurable results can feel really overwhelming. My friend Chetan has taken this challenge head-on with his new non-profit, Impactful Giving. I have collaborated with Chetan previously on one of our Kangaroo Mother Care (#KMC) unit establishment projects in rural communities of India. I’ve seen him tackle challenges with empathy, creativity, and determination, especially during our work on the KMC project where sometimes things don't really go as planned and you have to be very adaptive when you are working with diverse stakeholders. Not getting proper education, Why? Many children in India cannot get proper education, Why? 🔸 Under-privileged can't afford 🔸Child Labour 🔸Lack of Basic Facilities 🔸Insufficient Public Fund And this list goes on........... What are we doing? If you're capable, you need to help them. Take responsibility of one under-privileged child and help him. You can provide them Books, School Bags, Stationary Items, Water Bottles, Lunch Boxes, etc. Support Families who cannot afford. Motivate them to go to School & Eliminate child labour. The Loomba Foundation, in partnership with the US India Friendship Alliance, a charitable arm of the US India Strategic Partnership Forum, started a 'Prosperity for Widows Project' to empower 5000 marginalized widows in the State of Uttar Pradesh on January 1st in 2023. With every success story, we challenge the societal norms that limit the potential of widows. The Hasi project successfully brought smiles to underprivileged children across India. Clubs from diverse regions like Darjeeling, Siliguri, Delhi, and Gangtok participated, distributing essential items, food, and toys tailored to local needs through partnerships with local organizations. This fostered a sense of social responsibility within clubs and promoted community engagement. However, to create a more lasting impact, future iterations of the Hasi project can explore sustainable solutions for ongoing support, develop methods to measure the long-term impact on children's well-being, and consider incorporating needs-based empowerment initiatives alongside gift-giving.
