Hello readers interested in #AI This week I want to share with you an article from Forbes about the 50 AI most promising #Startups. I think this article will be very interesting for my friends at MassChallenge or Founders Institute. As I know that many of you don't have the time to read it, I'd like to share a few conclusions with you. - Only 6 of these 50 Startups are in Europe. We are losing the race. I think we should promote innovation much more if we want to stay relevant. - 28 of these 50 companies are new to the list. The speed of #innovation is accelerating. - 24 of these 50 companies have a valuation of more than $1billion (and yes, we are talking about startups). - The median of these companies has only 89 people on the headcount. Honestly, hearing that gave me a serious case of FOMO! Over the past year, I’ve been dabbling in building LLM-wrapper apps, but I’ve consistently hit a wall. I often think to myself, "This just isn’t working; LLMs aren’t quite capable enough yet." Dalton and Michael mentioned some YC-funded startups that are seeing impressive results with AI, which has got my curiosity soaring! 🚀 So, this brings me to a burning question: What are some standout examples of AI startups funded by YC in the last couple of years? Of the 221 startups analysed by Dealroom and Accel, around 27%, almost a third of the group, were created in London. Tel Aviv came second with 13%; Berlin 12%; and Amsterdam 5%. Interestingly, although Paris is the city everyone has been talking about for a while as a hotbed for AI development, it found itself in the middle of the city rankings, with 10%. Yet French startups that describe themselves as working in the field of generative AI have raised $2.29 billion to date, the most of any country in Europe, and more than Israel.

Forbes recently released their AI 50 list, and they found that the most promising AI startups are getting younger and leaner, with 28 of the companies on the list being new entrants with small headcounts. 🚶    As Kenrick Cai notes, last year, Sam Altman predicted the AI revolution will someday birth a company with a $1 billion valuation and a single employee. We’re not quite there yet, but if the future of startups is a broader industry trend of founder teams getting smaller, it’s all the more important for founders to be strategic and find the right partners to work with – one who’s been in their shoes before - as they look to scale and become that one-person unicorn.
