Do you remember Blockbuster? That Friday night staple with the blue and yellow logo? They were the undisputed KING of home entertainment... until they weren't. The Blockbuster story is a cautionary tale about ignoring your own strengths and missing the massive shifts happening around you. They had a: - Loyal customer base. - Huge physical footprint. - Brand name everyone knew. But they got too comfortable. Instead of embracing new technologies like streaming, they clung to their late-fee revenue model. While Netflix was mailing DVDs (remember that?), Blockbuster scoffed. We all know how that ended. The lesson here is that even a giant can fall if it stops: - Evolving. - Listening to its customers. - Looking to the future. The more successful you are today, the more cautious you should be about complacency setting in. What other brands come to mind that have missed the mark?

Over the past few months, I've been plagued with thoughts about what it means to adapt a series not once, but twice, after a glut of franchise revivals on streaming television the past few months. Some revivals, like Netflix's "Avatar: The Last Airbender" or Disney+'s "Percy Jackson and the Olympians," have a redemptive bent given lackluster film adaptations in the 2010s. Others, like Netflix's "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off" and "One Piece," were responsible for living up to excellent prior adaptations — a cult classic film and landmark anime series, respectively. But not all reboots result in good television series. I dug into why these re-remakes are appealing, why they're happening on television and not as films, and how they're turning out for Business Insider: https://lnkd.in/ePbukJeu
Hollywood keeps making, then re-making, then re-re-making beloved franchises. But what's in it for viewers?

Who remembers Blockbuster? Ya know, that movie rental place that used to sit on every corner in almost every single town in the US?! Remember how fast they went out of business, seemingly out of nowhere? Can you guess what happened to them? I'll give you three of the main reasons we no longer have this giant in our presence: 1. Blockbuster ignored chances to buy Netflix, sticking to its brick-and-mortar model. 2. Because of this decision, they were late to streaming. HUGE opportunity missed. 3. This also lead to customer inconvenience. Streaming is now in every single household across the United States- Because who wants to get dressed and go to the store every time you want to watch movies?! Right?! (Yes, we really did that "back in the day", as some would say. 😲 🤷♀️ ) They ignored the shift in the market. They ignored their customers. In the bat of an eyelash, it was all gone. It almost seemed like it happened overnight. What steps are you taking to ensure that your customers are top of mind and the main focus in your business models? #EmotionalSelling #TransacationalSelling #CustomerSatisfaction

While #Fallout wears the crown as Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios' biggest global hit of the year, the platform has a local success that drove high audience levels in the UK... The release of season 3 of Clarkson's Farm in May quickly became the Prime Video UK's most streamed show of 2024. Netflix has garnered accolade for the production of global hits like #SquidGame and #Bridgerton, but Prime Video's success often lies in local content heroes. The LOL franchise, adapted for several European markets consistently tops SVOD viewing rankings in its country of origin. But in the UK, Clarkson's Farm is the local success of the year. Understanding the subscriber value of local hits vs. global hits is a key element when it comes to establishing and growing a global streamer. Join the viewing revolution. Are you ready for some spotlight? Why? Because in the age of distraction, every business needs to become a performer, a creator of experiences. Think about it: ▪️Toys are part of big movies. ▪️Energy drinks sponsor extreme sports ▪️B2B companies are starting streaming channels. ▪️Candy bars have special editions and holiday versions. Again Why all this ? Because people now have an attention span of 8 seconds. And we all are part of the entertainment world now, always trying new things to stay connected. What ideas are you adapting for you and your business? #KSCurates

Introvert Guide : How Abs Cbn’s StarMagic is Redefining Prime 4? Prime 4 (Primetime Slot 4) is getting interesting most recently, The Pinoy Big Brother Franchise is gaining several wins over Saksi... a GMA Integrated News Program. What is interesting is the gradual shift of teen viewers to Prime 4. A migration that is somehow both exciting and challenging. Prime 4 used to be under the command of adult viewers who defined this slot as a News and Current Affairs slot. Not anymore, in my opinion. Prime 4 stratified viewers are teens, slightly dominated by males, educated and generally are well versed with social media platforms. But there is a unique add on to their general profile... they watch TV while using their mobile phones. Whether by accident or thoughtful strategy, StarMagic is defining prime 4 as a non narrative domain that caters to this stratified audience that bears a sub demograhic of tweens-female dominant as well. To redirect, Eventually, no news program will survive in Prime 4 if StarMagic’s redefinition of this slot will remain unchallenged. This is the inherent dynamics of a stratified viewership migration paradigm. If you snooze... you lose. Let see what will happen next. #GMAIntegratedNews #GMARegionalTV #GMA #GMAIntegratedNews #GMA #Ratings #GMARegionalTV #ratingsvsaward #engagement #television #tentpole #creative #streaming #CignalTV #ABSCBN #TV5 #Kapamilya #Kapatid #Kapuso #creative #promo #marketing #cinema #branding
