We’re stoked to be putting roots down at Kendal Mountain Festival this year, bringing along our iconic home on wheels, Little Firs, as well as an epic line-up of inspiring talks, cooking demos and live music. Here’s a little glimpse of what we've got going on in the Lakes...
- A 3-part Balance Between the Waves immersive experience in collaboration with DJ Nemone and the Scottish Ensemble, where nature meets music. Expect a cutting-edge performance, a late-night Passenger Party and a soundtracked Lake Windermere jetty dip.
- Happy Hour Disco and cooking demo with Passenger Ambassador Sam Jones, a.ka. Nomeatdisco... the Brewgooder and Goodrays are on us!
- Talks with Passenger ambassadors Lise Wortley and Somewhere Wilder, as well as Founder Richard Sutcliffe.
…plus so much more. Be sure to swing by Little Firs to chat to the crew and be in with a chance of winning some Passenger and Dometic goodies. 🤙

How to turn a farm into the world's greatest music festival?
Of course, it demands a huge amount of money, people and efforts. But the return is absolutely worthy, for the producers, the sponsors and specially for those who build this event or get the ticket to enjoy it.
From the perspective of a music lover, I personally think that a festival is a celebration of life for many reasons, starting from the intense emotions and the life-changing experience that it can be.
But also because a festival is also a great opportunity for people who:
- Build the infrastructure.
- Prepare the food and deliver the drinks.
- Provide security for musicians, technicians and festival goers.
- Offer transportation and accomodation, among other services.
This video shows how the Glastonbury festival ("Glasto") is built in 26 days, and also part of its history, from the first edition in 1970 as the "Pop Folk & Blues" festival with nearly 1000 attendants, until today, with over 400 workers and 210.000 attendants.
I have not attended many festivals, but I do follow them and dream with enjoying some ones with my kids.

What do supply chains, logistics and a Garth Brooks tour have in common? Answer: a lot.
We have seen many concert tours come to mind when we talk about all the hard work that goes into "the logistics of it all" when producing world tour concerts.

✨ FREE ✨ Music Lesson/Advice for Playing Violin & Viola - Part 1 of 2:
---
There's no right or wrong way to play the violin/viola, there are so many methods.
Here are a few ✨high-yield✨ tips to get you started and/or keep your momentum going:
A. Listen to your favorite artists (I recommend listening to the experts consistently, to normalize expertise), and watching them perform.
Like how humans naturally learn how to sing, your brain will soak up and process auditory information this way. The Suzuki Method follows this philosophy, but you don't have to do "The Suzuki Method."

Violin clip example 2 (live recording of Jascha Heifetz playing Bach Chaconne, my personal favorite interpretation of Chaconne):

Viola clip example 1 (live recording of William Primrose playing Ave Maria with Sidonie Goossens on harp): https://lnkd.in/g62e9xUA

B. Similarly, if you struggle with music phrasing - which transforms notes from sounding robotic to sound like, well, alive music - sing the music out loud, how you want it to sound, how, in your opinion, it should sound. That's your interpretation 🌈

C. Experiment with techniques & sound profiles:

I've tried lots of shoulder rests - rubber padding, sponges, balloon-inflated pads, you name it! But now, I stick to no shoulder rest on the violin as it is most comfortable for me and prevents neck strain.
D. Record yourself - this is one of the most brutally honest methods because what you hear next to your ear isn't the same sound the audience hears, and unfortunately, you will never really be able to know this, as every person's perception and distance from your sound projection is different, but it can help you identify blind spots in your playing you were not aware of - like looking into a mirror and seeing that you might need to adjust your clothing.
If it's too difficult to watch yourself play, I recommend giving yourself some time after recording and watching your recording as a 3rd person observer.
