One of the biggest scam in India is employment. This is not some cliche clickbait post for networking. But this is something that has deeply bothered me. I am a young entrepreneur, by which I mean I am stupid 😂 and trying to learn new things to fit in this world. Do I earn a lot? Yes, absolutely. It is stable? Nope. So what do I do? I search for conventional jobs. What do I need for that? Skills and experience. As someone who is proficient in biology field, I am searching for a way to upskill and gain some real lab experience before I join my PhD. So the story goes (based on true event 'wink' 'wink') - A few days back a post caught my eyes, a well known (mind you - well known) institute is hiring interns for clinical research. Well there was my chance to upskill, and better yet, they claimed it was a paid internship!! So what do I do? I use my old rusty resume, click click applied, and soon enough I get the call! I was asked to join the webinar, which lasted about an hour (mind you time is important for me since it literally and figuratively means money for me). In the entire webinar, the speaker was extremely strict and went on to promote the company, how they are the only one hiring interns and freshers etc. etc. How they were the 'only' company in the entire nation (yeah sure) offering paid internship and 'fair' pay to the interns (emphasis on FAIR pay). Then the webinar ended and I got a call from the 'HR' 😂 I was not allowed to speak, I was stunted down multiple times when I tried to ask for the remuneration/payment for the internship. After sometime, I had to be stern just to ask if they were actually hiring freshers.....their answer - HR: 'no......we will give training and then we will hire' Me: '....well.....so the paid internship claim is false...fine, np....atleast confirm there is no fees to be paid' HR: 'There is, how much was your CGPA in M.Sc.?: Me: '87%' HR: 'Great, you are qualified for a discount, so instead of 83k, you will get the course in 57k (approx)' My blood boiled, and I mean boiled. See I am okay with internship, '0' payment, because I am being paid with knowledge (even though most of the time it is bullshit and I actually don't agree that interns should be provided with '0' payment, atleast not what I do with my interns). But claiming a 'paid internship' and luring literal 'children' in just to 'sell' a course?? Where is your ethics?? The sad part is, other than me, there were 55 freshers who joined the webinar, all so excited for new jobs. It saddened me to see how much these 'so called' companies take advantage of gullible children. Stay safe guys. Don't fall for these traps, those certificates mean nothing, and trust me I know they don't. I know these companies speak loud, but 'empty vessels make the most noise'... Oh and the company you ask? LLRI institute. Have some ethics, if not, atleast the basic sense of humanity will also work.
