While most #Veterans transition smoothly into civilian life, some face service-related challenges that expand the federal governments capacity to address. For those of us in the #VeteranSpace, the need often feels, unending. Consequently, communities, often unfamiliar with #military needs, must support these Veterans. Well intentioned people across #nonprofits, #government, and #CharitableOrganizations, assume what a Veteran needs, and often duplicate services or put resources into solving a problem that doesn't exist. At Veterans Bridge Home, collective impact, remains at the forefront of our mission. Using technology systems like Unite Us with our community partners like Mecklenburg County, North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, and The Jeff Cohen Charitable Foundation allows for us to provide wrap around services across the social determinates of health. Even better? We can document those instances to demonstrate what #CharlotteVeterans greatest needs currently are and target our efforts on ensuring those partnerships remain strong. #VeteransBridgeHome #BeTheBridge

FIVE WAYS TO COMMEMORATE MEMORIAL DAY Memorial Day is viewed as the official beginning of summer, marked by picnics and BBQs with friends and family. But this holiday was established to set aside time to honor and remember those who died while serving in the U.S. military. In addition to picnics and BBQs, here are five great ways to commemorate Memorial Day this weekend. 1. Attend A Ceremony. Many towns have parades and ceremonies on Memorial Day. Some even conclude with a memorial service. Make time to take advantage of what your town offers. 2. Decorate with Flags. For many years, it has been a tradition to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers with flags on Memorial Day or fly our flag at half-staff from dawn until noon local time. If you have a flag pole, consider joining the tradition this year. 3. Thank A Veteran. While Memorial Day is a time for remembering and honoring our fallen soldiers, it’s also a wonderful time to thank soldiers past and present who are in our midst today. Thank them for their service. If you do not know a veteran or want to do more, write a letter to a veteran or soldier! Check out https://buff.ly/2DhxLZD for more information about writing letters or sending care packages to soldiers currently deployed. 4. Participate in our National Moment of Remembrance. To ensure Memorial Day is the sacred and noble holiday it is intended to be, the National Moment of Remembrance asks us to pause for 1 minute in national unity wherever we are at 3 PM local time on Memorial Day. 5. Buy A Poppy. During the days leading up to Memorial Day, members of the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) accept donations for poppies. The poppy’s significance to Memorial Day derives from John McCrae’s poem, “In Flanders Fields.” Disabled and needy veterans in VA hospitals have been assembling Buddy Poppies since 1924. When you purchase a poppy, your donation assists in maintaining state and national rehabilitation and service programs for veterans. #EllenMorano #MemorialDay2024 #Honor #Remembrance #Veterans #FallenSoldiers #ThankYou

Life in the Armed Forces is a unique experience. Many experiences and challenges are hard to even comprehend outside of military life. But when you are serving you are surrounded by like minded people who "get it," with shared experiences and deeper connections and friendships as you face varying challenges together. This is one of the many reasons why transition from military to civilian can be so hard, with many Veterans struggling with isolation and loneliness. Even more so if leaving service was not through choice, but was due to injury, illness or deeper battles. One of the many benefits of the SWV pathways is the connections that develop between Veterans. The camaraderie that so many have missed since leaving service, that sense of connection, of being part of something again. To learn more about the support pathways on offer please click on the link below - https://lnkd.in/eDea2zrk To donate- Text VETERANS to 70470 to donate £10 Or VETERANS20 to donate £20 Texts cost the chosen donation amount plus one standard network rate message #veterans #veteranssupport #veteranscharity #veteransnetwork #friends #support #community #rebuildlife #positivefuture #network #charity
