Health and well-being for all, Quality Education and Gender Equality are Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4 and 5. These are goals I am most passionate about at the moment and feel I could act on (or contribute to) from my own little corner of the world. However, with inflation being a common decimal in most parts of the world currently, and coupled with the weakening of the Nigerian Naira, total focus seems to be on food poverty with little or no regard for the cost of female sanitary products, in Nigeria. Due to the high cost of these products, young girls and older women now resort to the use of rags and other unsanitary materials as pads during menstruation. As an individual equipped with a Masters degree in Public Health and and Health Promotion, I fear this would bring about a wave of illnesses and diseases in the future, hence this initiative. This initiative is born out of my passion for supporting and educating young girls on personal hygiene (especially during menstruation) and sexual health. This project aims to raise funds for the purchase and distribution of pads to young girls in Nigeria. The goal is that by the end of the year, at least 10,000 girls and women in Nigeria would have been supported with the provision of pads.
