🚀💫 China's Space Refueling or Grappling Satellite🛰️💫 https://lnkd.in/ggT4CR8T 1️⃣ 🌌 Next-Gen Satellite Pit Stops 🛠️ China is advancing its on-orbit satellite refueling capabilities, integrating peacetime and wartime logistics into its military doctrine. A defense contractor has developed a mission-ready satellite refueler for geosynchronous Earth orbit (GEO), aiming to enhance the PLA's in-space logistics force. Incorporating commercial entities, this strategic move seeks to shape international norms in space logistics and offensive operations. 2️⃣🎯 Satellites in the Crosshairs: Unraveling the Threat 🚀 The narrative of Chinese GEO satellites with robotic arms as harbingers of doom for vulnerable U.S. satellites might seem like a plot straight out of sci-fi. However, many U.S. satellites are equipped with Hall thrusters, enabling them to perform slight, yet strategic maneuvers. These thrusters, which have been in use since at least 2010, utilize solar power for collision avoidance, making even the most "juicy targets" more elusive. 3️⃣🕵️♂️ The Stealthy Approach: A Closer Look 🔍 Concerns about Chinese satellites sneaking up on U.S. assets in space evoke images of cosmic cat-and-mouse games. Chinese satellites, like SJ-17, are large and trackable from Earth. This transparency in space undermines the notion of a stealthy approach, indicating that as long as these satellites are sizable, their movements are far from secret. 🛰️In space, the line between friend and foe is drawn not with lasers, but with Hall thrusters. 🚀

What if the international community controlled which countries could launch satellites into space? I mean countries like North Korea, which today dares to defy the sanctions of the international community and tries to launch satellites into space. One thing is for sure, we cannot afford to shoot them down in #space, as this will only generate large amounts of debris in Earth's orbit that will interfere with space #satellites and #stations. However, it should not be technologically difficult to capture and bring down to earth any launched celestial bodies with #spacecraft or #drones, e.g. for joint analysis, instead of allowing the space technology of dangerous countries to orbit the #earth. It would be such that just building a #rocket and launching a #space satellite is not enough, but the #consent of the #international #community would also be needed. Otherwise, the US or international space forces, having space drones or a spacecraft in Earth orbit, would simply #intercept the launched satellite and instantly bring it down to earth, ending the entire North Korean or Russian 'space programs'. Such systems can eventually intercept all nuclear or other missiles in space, so that the Russians cannot do anything there. And for the West it is technologically possible. There is only a need for the next #technological step. But we already doing one and another thing. Build drones, send stuff into space. Anyway, the idea. I hope it falls to the right people. Otherwise, our civilization has only itself to blame.

While we don’t tout our system as a replacement for GPS, we recognize that reliance on satellite based navigation systems has more than the potential to be jammed, it risks satellites being physically targeted in a near peer conflict. This point proven yet again. Our non-RF navigation system brings an added level of reliability to an increasingly at risk world. https://lnkd.in/gg273J3U

Tracking and analysing objects in #Space through instruments positioned on the ground and through orbital space assets. This is the goal of Space Situational Awareness (SSA), which focuses on observing and understanding Space objects, especially in Low Earth Orbit. 🛰️ Activities related to Space Situational Awareness include object tracking, threat characterisation and analysis of the data collected. The use of Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST) systems allows SSA to be the crucial enabling factor for achieving effective Space Domain Awareness (SDA). SDA is a primarily military concept that signifies comprehensive awareness of everything happening in Space. In the civil sphere, SSA focuses mainly on managing so-called unintentional threats, that is, Space debris orbiting the Earth, while SST systems monitor and track such objects without needing to identify them to prevent collisions and ensure the safe and continuous operation of Space infrastructures. 📡 The heart of Space Domain Awareness and Space Situational Awareness activities lies in Command and Control (C2) systems which, also thanks to #ArtificialIntelligence algorithms, process and analyse data from sophisticated sensors, providing an integrated and real-time view of Space activities. How Can #CubeSats Enhance Disaster Response and Relief Operations? CubeSats, such as the Prometheus 2 satellites developed by Airbus and In-Space Missions in September 2022, are capable of monitoring radio signals from ground stations. This provides valuable data during disasters, enabling efficient planning for relief and rescue operations by assessing the degree of impact and identifying the most affected areas. Key Market Players: EnduroSat, PLANET ELECTRO LABS , ISIS Innovative Solutions in Space B.V., GomSpace , Tyvak International, Adcole LLC , Millennium Space Systems, A Boeing Company, Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) , AAC Clyde Space , Read More: https://lnkd.in/dzZ23bkg #CubeSats #DisasterResponse #SatelliteTechnology #ReliefOperations #RadioSignalMonitoring #Prometheus2 #SpaceInnovation #EmergencyPlanning #TechForGood #DisasterManagement

Current space treaties make it illegal to touch another country's satellites, but what about another country's space debris? The more megaconstellations that get sent up will eventually create exponentially more debris. Why? Because they are designed to be quick and cheap to build, and if one satellite dies, many others can replace it. But the dead satellite does not go away. It could be in orbit for centuries before it finally burns up in the atmosphere. Now is the time to get serious about garbage cleanup in orbit. Is there a company willing to do both the technological and the legal challenge of making orbital paths safer for future spaceships?
The Chinese constellation Qianfan (“Thousand Sails”) is already creating debris. The breakup of the Long March 6A, delivering the satellites, likely occurred Aug. 7, at 1548 UTC. Calling upon all operators to share ephemeris, covariances, and maneuver plans to enhance #SpaceSafety and #SpaceSustainability! Accidents can happen but irresponsible behavior cannot! https://lnkd.in/eqyyt9i8
