The team at SENTRY are continually drawn to the phrase “Smart Wastewater”. Why? Our industry has historically lacked reliable wastewater data. Because of this, operators have been limited in their ability to make real-time or “smart” control decisions that result in improved treatment performance. This leads to significantly higher energy and chemical costs and occasional treatment upset events. As we near the end of 2024, we’re on a mission to make “Smart Wastewater” a reality. For example, working with partners like Ovivo, SENTRY sensors are central to improved control of Enhanced Biological Phosphorus Removal (EBPR) as part of Ovivo’s recently launched Carrousel(R) 2.0 BNR treatment system. And working with Teledyne ISCO, our sensors are critical to creating “Smart Autosamplers” allowing for event-based wastewater sample collection. This solves a massive issue for pretreatment teams and allows them to catch problem wastewater events at all times. But this is just the start. The shift to a world where reliable SENTRY-type data is feeding smart AI/ML tools is approaching fast and we intend to be at the heart of many of these wastewater and Anaerobic Digestion related solutions. This is one space you won’t want to take your eyes off of in the months and years ahead.
