Community groups from 21 states, including Hawaii, completed the initial prescreen form. The program launched 18 crowdfunding campaigns for projects in 11 states, including Arkansas, Connecticut, Indiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Nine projects crowdfunded at least $1,000 for their projects. In total, the program crowdfunded $44,300 for community projects. Something to be proud of… and more to come. Our fantastic colleague who first authored this paper Claire van Teunenbroek and I researched the crowd and their crowdfunding behavior during crisis such as a pandemic. What we find is that online behavior for crowdfunding did not change during corona, that social media plays a key role in getting funds via crowdfunding as well as knowing whose project it is or if someone you know has already donated to the project before. Now this paper has been one of the most downloaded in the previous year! :) We expect two new publications which will clarify funding decisions in crowdfunding projects- when, who, why and what is funded when it comes to high tech startup projects.
