Over the years I’ve gotten better at weeding out clients that just aren’t a good culture fit. The way I see it, there are hundreds of agencies that do what we do and hundreds of clients that need support, but the match is everything (it’s kind of like dating). ⁠ ⁠ In hard times it can be tempting to say yes even when your gut says you should say no. Then in hindsight you really wish you’d listened. Can you relate? ⁠ ⁠ But often like dating, it’s not until you’re all settled in, that the red flags really start to show. And as business owners we sometimes forget, that we also have the option of ending a client engagement when it’s just not feeling right.⁠ ⁠ So I’m calling out some of my client red flags to remind me (and maybe you too) of when it makes sense to not push forward… or when it’s time to part ways.⁠ ⁠ 🚩 Not wanting to do strategy ⁠ ⁠ 🚩 Expecting overnight results ⁠ ⁠ 🚩 A long lead closing process but then a lot of urgency to get started - often with unrealistic deadlines ⁠ ⁠ 🚩 Saying you’re very expensive or questioning if you’re “worth the money”⁠ ⁠ 🚩 Stories of many other providers not meeting their needs or being hard to work with⁠ ⁠ 🚩 Departing from the strategy because of something a friend or competitor is doing ⁠ ⁠ 🚩 Unprofessional feedback that personally offends rather than strategically develops the deliverable ⁠ ⁠ What would you add to the list?⁠ ⁠ ⁠ ⁠ #businessowner #digitalagency #marketingagency

You’re putting yourself out there, sharing your story, but it feels like no one’s listening. The engagement is low, and you’re not sure what’s missing. 💬 You know your message is valuable, but it’s just not hitting home. It’s discouraging and your confidence has been taking a massive hit. Every post feels like a shot in the dark. You’re hoping to spark a conversation, but the responses are minimal. It’s hard not to feel disheartened when you know you have so much to offer. 💁🏼♀️ Perhaps a bit ironically, so many coaches and therapists face this disconnection daily. When one of my clients confided that she wasn’t sure how to speak to her ideal customers effectively, we worked to find the right approach and she went from 1-2 potential clients a month to 29 interested people. Ever been in a Doodle Jam? It’s not as sticky as it sounds and is a fab way to get your creative muscles flexed and get fresh ideas for your business challenge. 💡 You know what I’m about to say: first, grab some Post-Its and Sharpies. 💡 On one, write your business challenge in less than 10 words. Like… how to create fervent engagement with our new email campaign. 💡 On another three, at the very bottom, write three random nouns. Like… jam, umbrella, hedgehog. (Sounds like a great day out to me.) 💡 Now doodle your thing on each Post-It. Artistic skill is optional, enthusiasm is a must. 💡 Now pick an interesting word from your business challenge. Let’s pick… engagement. 💡 Write this at the bottom of three Post-Its, then take each one and doodle something, anything, that somehow represents this word. 💡 Now you can use these three doodles to inspire fresh thinking with your challenge: how does an engagement ring give me an idea? How does a telephone inspire a solution? 💡 Also go back to your jam, hedgehog or umbrella to provoke new ideas. Just mind your fingers on those spikes.

📢 Your audience isn’t buying because you’re talking to *everyone* instead of the one who actually needs you. Throwing out “how to grow your business” or “mindset tips” isn’t cutting it. What are you getting? Empty “great tips!” comments and likes from people who’ll NEVER buy. ❌ Broad content = silence. ✅ Hyper-specific content = clients. Honestly? You’re too scared to call out the real sh*t that’s keeping your clients up at night— And it shows. 💁 When you hit the real issues haunting your dream clients? You stop being "just" another post—they see you as THE solution. I’ve seen it happen firsthand with my clients: ✨They stopped pumping out broad, generic fluff. ✨They stopped trying to speak to the masses. 💸 And guess what? DMs started rolling in with people saying, “You literally read my mind—how can I work with you?” THAT'S the power of getting specific. So if you’re serious about attracting high-paying clients, stop playing it safe. Get specific. Dive deep. Talk about the raw, uncomfortable problems they’re too scared to speak out loud. Anything less? It’s just noise. ➡️ Ready to ditch the fluff and create content that actually converts? Drop “CONVERT” if you’re done being ignored and want to start pulling in dream clients.

You’re 1 post away from cracking your business wide open.🥚🍳 Tapping directly into what your ideal client wants in a way that leaves them salivating (to the point that with or without a direct link they’ll hunt you down & excitedly toss their credit card at you) you’re only ever 1 single post away from the types of clients who bring five more in their place. What does this require? 1)Knowing your audience (& continuing to keep their pulse). My favorite place to do this is on Facebook, as it allows for quick, honest feedback (especially with a well thought out question). 2) Kick your bias in the🍑 As the expert, fighting the desire to offer what you know your ideal client needs can be tricky. The problem with that is that people (especially clients who get case study worthy results & are a pleasure to work with) invest in what they want. Unless standing in the middle of a living room knee deep in water, want more often trumps need. 3) An offer that delivers/facilitates one promise. There’s room to tailor your offer during a 1:1 conversation. However, each offer needs 1 clear, impactful result that your ideal client can safely lean up against & feel supported by. An offer that can do it all leaves too much room for confusion (for both yourself & your audience). Try every strategy until you find what works. That's the worst advice I have ever received. It's okay if it worked for you, but for me, I experienced: -Burnout -Confusion -Almost giving up When you stick to one strategy, you: -Manage your expectations -Track your progress -Get tangible results This doesn't mean you'll get quick results, but you will get results with consistent effort.
