We all want this quote from Aung San Suu Kyi to be true every time a government minister makes a decision on behalf of our country. The rigorous debate on legislation should ensure this happens. For every #businessleader we know that governance plays a significant part in holding us accountable for what we do and indeed how we do it. Therefore internal processes, discussions, approvals and audits should hold ourselves and our teams accountable for what we do. Business however, isn't about full democracy; teams are set up to make decisions that fit the business strategy and in this regard governments can learn from operational businesses. For #salesleaders teamwork and co-creation of solutions is critical to deal outcomes. Working with customers to develop solutions for and with them is the type of democratic process that builds successful relationships. Today let's ensure that we have everything working well in this area, it is fully in our control, and then reach out to all stakeholders and ensure they are aligned and supportive too. #aungsansuukyi #inspirationalleader #positivemindset

If the same approach continues to be used without innovation, efforts to fight corruption will remain stuck. After 2024, Indonesia needs a more holistic strategy, focusing on prevention, systemic reforms, and strengthening an anti-corruption culture to create lasting change. https://lnkd.in/gpG7KyZH

Food for thought! 🍞 🥛 As a competition lawyer it is easy to use the slogan that effective competition will lead to the best results for consumers and the society as a whole. But is it really so? In case of a price war in the markets for essential products, the situation might be more nuanced - in yesterdays article I argue that price war might not always be beneficial for consumers and perhaps the existence of local production is a value in itself (key words are possibility for investment in innovation and development, food security, carbon footprint etc).

BERSIH refers to the decision by the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, Tan Sri Johari Abdul, stating that the positions of six Bersatu Members of Parliament (MPs) who defied the party’s directives remain as Members of Parliament (MP). The six MPs are the MPs for Bukit Gantang, Kuala Kangsar, Labuan, Tanjong Karang, Gua Musang (who is also the Nenggiri State Assemblyman), and Jeli. BERSIH asserts that the Speaker has erred in understanding the mechanism of the Anti-Hopping Law (AHL) and has disregarded the principles and intentions behind the enactment of this law, which may lead to political instability in the future. 🔗 Click the link below to read more https://lnkd.in/gRTj_99V

What better way to spend the evening than by working on and finalizing your home assignment on Corporate Responsibility for #hankenemba. This time I focused on OP Financial Group and delved into our human rights policy, human rights statememt, ethics code of conduct, supplier code of conduct, annual and sustainability report, and our commitments to and policies of sustainability. I also wrote a short analysis on the key human rights risks of the financial sector as a whole. In addition to direct risks and issues, the sector faces indirect risks stemming from its financing and investment activities. And then there are naturally the supply chain risks and risks associated to the communities. The course on corporate responsibility was naturally an important one. And it was eyeopening too. #emba
