That edge, where artists are always transforming chaos into order, can be a very rough and dangerous place. Living there, an artist constantly risks falling fully into the chaos, instead of transforming it. But artists have always lived there, on the border of human understanding. Art bears the same relationship to society that the dream bears to mental life. You are very creative when you are dreaming. That is why, when you remember a dream, you think, “Where in the world did that come from?” It is very strange and incomprehensible that something can happen in your head, and you have no idea how it got there or what it means. It is a miracle: nature’s voice manifesting itself in your psyche. And it happens every night. Like art, the dream mediates between order and chaos. So, it is half chaos. That is why it is not comprehensible. It is a vision, not a fully fledged articulated production. Those who actualize those half-born visions into artistic productions are those who begin to transform what we do not understand into what we can at least start to see. That is the role of the artist, occupying the vanguard. That is their biological niche. They are the initial civilizing agents. Jordan B. Peterson. Earlier today I posted about Social Impact in the Regions's procurement channels and the importance of our locally focused spend. This short post builds on this as we document our contribution to creative industries in the conference host community. In 2024 it was 20% of our conference spend. When I produce events I look for experiences that are 'out of the norm' that will challenge, delight and nurture the conference delegates. Our creative experiences are often immersive (such as the 'love letters to the Macleay' installation this year). We create things that give people something to connect around, to talk about and to remember. The emerging discipline of neuroarts gives more context to this practice providing an evidence base on the ability of arts and culture in health and well-being initiatives (which an effective conference embodies). And besides, creative practitioners are critical to our communities and rarely compensated accordingly. The Ready Communities (Ready Macleay) place-building program which led into this year's conference identified a range of Macleay based creative practitioners, many of whom were engaged in the conference. We are very grateful for their contributions. Visual and performing artists are an important and foundational part of Social Impact in the Regions. In fact, 20% of our conference spend was dedicated to creative industries practitioners in 2024. Thanks so much to our creative team in 2024 and also to Arts Mid North Coast and Olivia Parker for your support. https://lnkd.in/gxs6K7aJ Jay Black Peter Clarke Sion Thomas Rex Clutario Lucy Frost, Ronnie Grammatica Photography Joanne Stead Paul Sekfy

International Artist Day – A Celebration of Creativity Did you know that October 25th International Artist Day? This special day is all about celebrating art and the amazing people who create it. Art can be a painting, a sculpture, music, photography, or even buildings! It shows us the beauty of the world or helps us understand difficult moments in history. Without art, there would be no culture or stories of the past. But it's not just about artists. There are also people who study and write about art to help us understand it better. These people are called art journalists, and they tell us the stories behind great artworks. Did you know that President Kennedy was a big fan of the arts? He helped start important projects in the U.S. to make art more accessible to everyone. Over time, other leaders supported the arts too, and that’s why we can enjoy so many amazing things today! At Gargi AI, we love how art inspires creativity in everyone. So, on this day, let’s celebrate the creativity that makes the world a more beautiful and thoughtful place. #InternationalArtistDay #artforkids #GargiAI #creativityispower #CelebrateWithUs #gargi_ai

The Dream Machine - 2673 #AIArt Prompt: Generate a digital art image that portrays a historical setting of the Victorian era. The scene should have a romantic feeling with a couple leisurely strolling in an opulent garden. An ornate fountain, elegant street lamps and old cobblestone sidewalks would add to the historical setting. Subtle hints of their affection like sharing a laugh or exchanging glances should radiate the romantic aura. The entire image should carry a prominent sepia tone to evoke a sense of nostalgia and timelessness, reminiscent of faded old photographs.

From a young age, Dutch artist Jackie Mulder has been drawn to defying expectations, seeking liberation from the constraints of a rules-driven society. This rebellious spirit permeates her artistic journey, evident even after transitioning from fashion and graphic design to graduating from the Photo Academy in Amsterdam in 2021. Her project "Thought Trails," delving into the intricacies of the wandering mind, epitomises her subversive and experimental ethos in image creation, showcasing inventive mixed-media pieces that blend her diverse skills and celebrate the beauty of divergence. #Art #Artists #JackieMulder #ExperimentalArt #ThoughtTrails #DivergentBeauty #MixedMediaArt #ArtisticEvolution #Molten #MoltenImmersiveArt #MoltenAffect #Curation #Curator #ArtCuration #ArtCurator #DorothyDiStefano
