Today is World Philanthropy Day, a moment to reflect on the impact we can make in our communities. I was reminded of this importance when I received a heartfelt call from the Jays Care Foundation, thanking me for my support this year. Their message resonated deeply, especially when considering the challenges many children face today. Did you know that 4 out of 10 parents report ongoing adverse effects in their children due to reduced participation in sport and play since the pandemic? This reality is compounded by the fact that 44% of parents can no longer afford to enroll their children in organized sports because of current economic conditions. Even more concerning is that less than 30% of children and youth are meeting the recommended daily physical activity levels outlined in the Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines. As we celebrate World Philanthropy Day, let’s remember how vital it is to support initiatives that promote access to sports and play for all children. Together, we can help create a healthier, more active future for the next generation. #WorldPhilanthropyDay #JaysCareFoundation #YouthSports #CommunityImpact #Philanthropy
