Leaders are often likened to parents because both roles encompass guiding, nurturing, and supporting those under their care. … as it explained by Simon Sinek Although a comparison between leaders and parents reveals limitations: / Power Dynamics: Parental authority is often absolute and unquestioned, whereas effective leadership requires a balance of power and often benefits from collaborative decision-making and input from team members. / Professional Boundaries: The personal, emotional nature of parenting can conflict with the professional, often more detached nature of leadership. Leaders need to maintain professional boundaries that parents do not. / Diverse Motivations: Parental motivations are typically rooted in unconditional love and long-term commitment to the child’s well-being. In contrast, leadership motivations can be diverse, including organizational goals, personal career advancement, and other professional incentives that may not always align with the individual needs of team members. While the analogy provides a useful framework for understanding some aspects of leadership, it’s important to recognize and address its limitations. #LeadershipVsParenting #LeadershipDynamics #PowerBalance #ProfessionalBoundaries #LeadershipMotivations #ParentalGuidance #LeadershipRoles #LeadershipInsights #TeamSupport #EffectiveLeadership

It would be awesome to see all organizations making more of an effort on teaching, coaching and development of leadership training. A strong focus is needed starting from an entry level position up to executive leadership. Concentrating on current employees, supervisors, to managers and up to executive management is needed to get every one employee on the same page.

Simon says… Simon Sinek emphasises that true leadership is about taking care of those in your charge. He likens leadership to parenting—a complex and nuanced role. As a parent myself, I understand this deeply. Each child, much like each team member, requires a different approach. Some need tender love and care, while others need vigorous motivation and inspiration. At the core, all need loving discipline, a touch of humour, and acceptance of their individuality. As much as we, as parents, may want our children to emulate us, we also want them to avoid our mistakes and to become their unique selves. This individuality is how they can best contribute to the world. Similarly, as leaders, we must avoid micromanaging, distrusting, badmouthing, or undermining our people. Such actions only serve to disengage and disconnect them, eroding the faith, hope, and trust they have in us. Our people see us as more than just guideposts for the future. They view us as their inspiration and hope. When things go wrong, they need to know there is a safety net, a home to return to, and at the very least, a shoulder to cry on. Leadership is about being that pillar of support and ensuring our team members feel valued and secure. Failing to provide this security wil lead us to lose team members who can drive our businesses to definate success. It’s all about our people.

Totally agree with that. Unfortunately nowadays some leaders are still leading their employees the same way as fourty years ago believing that strong authority is the key and thinking that bullying their employees when the company ist not running good ist the right way to change a Bad economic Situation. Such a way of doing will never help the employees to achieve better results. At the opposite, it will create a scheme between the team and the leaders. Moreover, such kind of leaders never set themselves and their way to lead in question. Empower your employees and give them Trust. Support them and help them to find solutions. It will create unique bounds and reinforce the Teamspirit. It's the head cornerstone of modern leadership.

#simonsinek constantly shows me his EQ in Leadership. what a profound piece, in comparing Leadership to parenting. no wonder so many employees need therapy after their workplace experience. if only the leaders saw the need for therapy too, we might finally see a positive change in the world. not the "coaching" kind of therapy, the #godeepexploration into your unconscious psyche kind of "therapist" (the spelling has always intrigued me). When we look at ourselves and how our behaviors impact others and ask the hard questions about what drives those both positive & negative we go some way towards knowing ourselves. #humancapital #Leadershipculture #bethechange #kindnessintheworkplace

+++ The Closest Thing of Leadership is Parenting+++ I have a privilege to be a parent of 4 children and to be a leader to my amazing teams (the current and the past). I couldn’t have been here without them and their trust in me. I can resonate with pretty much all messages from Simon Sinek below. - Leadership is nothing about being in-charge but It is the awesome responsibility for those in your charge. - You show up with love every day and you work tirelessly to ensure that your team will gain confidence to do great things in their lifes. - You are an infinite student of leadership, you are obsessed with reading books, listening Ted talks, and talking about it. -Leadership is about human skills Would you agree with me ? #leadership #authenticleadership #PeopleMatter #Peoplefirst
