Today’s #WeLeadComms honoree is US-based communication leader Noreen Pratscher. After serving as an in-house communications leader for companies across sectors during her 30 year career, Noreen launched an independent consultancy - Pratscher Communications - in late 2023. With experience across industries for both global and US-based companies, Noreen continues to guide organizations through the myriad of issues they face every day, with meaningful messages and actions. She believes the essential role of communicators is to guide leaders to be visible with both words and deeds in addressing key issues, always guided by organizational values. Noreen is passionate about driving impactful communications, helping organizations connect with their audiences to create positive sentiment and enhance reputation, internally and externally. Recognizing the value of AI tools, Noreen believes the personal touch is still necessary to establish trust and credibility, both of which are essential traits for communicators. Noreen’s guiding principles are authenticity, strategy, and taking an ‘outside in’ approach to communications: identifying what matters most to stakeholder audiences. Her secret to success is her listening skills. She believes that the best advisers are those who take the time to listen and understand what they're hearing from clients, dive deep into the organizational and business model and then translating that input into meaningful communications messages and engagements. +++ Choosing a modern intranet or other communications technology is tough. Communications is not the messaging your company puts out. -It's not corporate or internal comms. -It's not PR or investor relations. -It's not the carefully chosen words you use to talk about your company's stance on BLM, DEI, or XYZ. -And it's not your safe and sensible social media posts either. Communications is: -The experience your customers have when they finally reach your support agent to resolve what should have been a simple issue (or not an issue at all if the communication was clearer). -The level of frustration you feel searching through a company's website to find that critical piece of information. -The credibility and brand destroying spam your sales reps pump out hoping everyone is being found well. -The degree to which your employees feel listened to by their managers and leadership. -The 45 minutes it took to resolve an issue through live chat that could have been solved through AI in 30 seconds. -The number of days that go by before your customers can finally get that demo they initially requested. -The lack of clarity around pipeline, projects, performance, and productivity. -How connected and engaged your staff feels when everyone is working dispersed. -How your people show up on video calls with clients and what impressions are being created --even with video off. -How aligned people feel to the company's purpose and mission. -How clean the bathrooms are and whether 1 ply or 2. Yes even that. EVERYTHING communicates. Communication is how all of your employee and customer experiences are created. It's the most critical building block in business (nay in life!) and it's the cornerstone on which everything else is created. It's time we start treating it as such. Do you agree? Communications professionals often talk about creating a “seamless experience” between company and stakeholder, regardless of industry, and whether the company is B2B or B2C or B2-“Whomever the End-User Might Be”. But “seamless” is a vague term and leaves a lot to the interpretation of the communicator. In my opinion, “seamless,” in the context of communications, should mean “continuity”; a continual, two-way engagement between company and stakeholder, in which dialogue is evolving, productive, and beneficial for both sides. Communication isn’t just about “disseminating information”. It's about engagement and creating a mutually satisfying exchange. It becomes “seamless” when both sides naturally feel there is continual reason to keep engaging with each other, and the marker of success is when the customer is engaging proactively and positively with the company on a continuing basis. #Communications #Strategy #PublicRelations #Marketing

I really hope Country Managers will spend more time on internal communication. Not inspiring. Not trendy. But... important. Why? 🔴 Problem: The battle for understanding country management by non-country managers is not won. ➡️ Meaning: Too often country managers are sidelined into being the translator, the social media person, the document jazz-er-upper, or the recruiter ... all while being judged on 💰-results only. 🍑 But... Part (not all!) of the blame sits with the country manager himself. I often see Country Managers torn between delivering results, understanding and explaining their market, and fighting for budget and resources. It's part of the job, you'll say. I agree, but especially in start-ups, Country Managers - especially if junior profiles - often lack the art of internal communication. Remember that folks don't know your market and how it works. Most of them underestimate the time it takes to establish a market. Here is what I would recommend: 📈 When negotiating your Country Manager contract, negotiate a period of 3–6 months to spend only on market analysis, network creation and internal awareness raising for that market. No sales pressure, only preparation. 🛠 Request a list of tools you need for the job: a structured marketing and sales department to rely on, sales and marketing tools, a localised website, presentations, ICP-specific content, and email cadences, for example. Challenge the internal team and explain to them what you need to succeed. 🗣️ Install a regular meeting schedule with the upper management and core functions (Head of sales, Head of Marketing, CFO, CTO, ...) to report on your market, and make them understand in every meeting the market differences and what customers in your market need. 🔊 And never stop communicating the value of your efforts. Take people on the journey with internal communication. Not inspiring. Not trendy. But important. Justifying our efforts and fighting for every pound of the budget is hard and cumbersome. The solution starts with internal communication. Not inspiring, but... you get the point. #countrymanager #expansion #internalcommunication

Do you know what I really do for a living? You might think you know, but there’s so much more to it. "Shahad? He’s in communications! Writes speeches, coordinates events, handles the big stuff. He’s a pro!" But after over a decade in this field, let me tell you — speeches, event coordination, logistics, writing, framing, timing — they’re only scratching the surface of my work. The practice and craft of a communications professional go far beyond the tools and channels we use to reach an audience. We navigate a complex world of human interactions, and it’s a lot more intricate than “just writing, speaking, and listening.” In this role, you engage with a range of personalities, each with unique desires, needs, and goals. To truly collaborate, you adapt — bringing out different facets of yourself to build comfort and familiarity with each person. It’s about finding that connection to help them feel understood and valued, which creates the foundation for a positive, productive relationship. Communications is a nuanced, evolving web of human dynamics. A large part of my job is understanding people and orchestrating ways for us to work collectively toward a shared goal, while respecting each person’s values and approach to work. At the end of the day, the communications professional’s job is to maintain stability and uphold the status quo — with insightful, authentic messaging that strengthens relationships and ensures the organization’s mission is secure and productive. #BeyondTheWords #CommunicationsCraft #HumanConnections

Communication is indeed an art. Simply put, communication is the art of securely conveying a message and making sure it is well understood and this affects feedback. This is the job of a communications specialist. The communication specialist conveys information between the company and its stakeholders. So below are the other tasks they perform; 1. They create comprehensive plans to achieve specific communication goals, such as increasing brand awareness, promoting products or services, or managing crises. 2. Writing press releases, newsletters, blog posts, social media content, and other materials to inform and engage audiences. 3. Building and maintaining relationships with journalists and media outlets to secure positive coverage and manage media inquiries. 4. Develop and implement plans to address and manage crises or negative publicity. 5. They also ensure effective communication within the organization, including employee newsletters, town halls, and intranet content. 6. Importantly, they organize and manage events, such as conferences, press conferences, and product launches. Finally, they track key metrics to evaluate the success of communication efforts and make necessary adjustments. In essence, a communications specialist acts as the voice and face of an organization, ensuring that its message is delivered, consistently, and effectively. #communication #jobbermanat12 #weare12
