After the merge with #Evado, Digpro is already starting this joint journey in favour of the energy transition. Together with Evado, we are meeting up with four energy distributors. These energy distributors participate in the development of Evado Eden, that enables for balancing power consumption in their electricity networks. Evado Eden, together with their mobile app, also helps their customers to understand consumption in order to reduce it, and thereby save money.  The purpose of this meeting is to introduce dpPower and Digpro’s solutions, and find common grounds to speed up the energy transition on a greater scale. 🙃 Sneak peek Hydrogen App and a bumpy road. For years, I have been working on the hydrogen economy as part of a sustainable energy and resource system. Because both supply and demand have yet to develop properly, it is quite tricky. After all, we have to switch a system with oil and natural gas that took more than 60 years to develop into a sustainable system very quickly. And that is difficult. ⛓️💥 Not the least because supply and demand seem to be different worlds : upstream and downstream have to be connected. And these do not always know how to find each other easily. And then they also have to find each other financially. And even though with Impact Hydrogen we also work on international projects, we believe that hydrogen can also bring a lot of development and green growth locally. But then supply and demand have to know how to find each other. 🤝 So we took the initiative to develop an app to help with that. 😊 That was easier said than done. You have to think about so much and I now know that there is a whole world behind an app. Privacy, geo things for locations, usability, customer journeys, etc. Let's just say we learned a lot.... So it took longer than planned, but the app is almost here on the App Store! 💞 An app that connects. What could be better than that. Siemens Energy announced last week a $150 million investment in a large power transformer factory in the US. In the mean time, the US needs seven factories of a similar size as Siemens's to solve its transformer shortage. Large power transformer manufacturers in the US have been in a particularly delicate situation for over a decade. Local factories have been working at 40% capacity while imports have met 80% of the demand. Many factors contributed to this, including policy uncertainties as well as cheap imports. I talked to Dana Marie Perkins in the Switched On podcast last November about this (https://lnkd.in/dUK8AiVV). The US electric grid is growing due to an increase in power generation, (for example: solar and wind projects) as well as the need to connect and charge electric vehicles; but also, the aging assets need replacements, all of which have contributed to a rise in transformer demand. As a consequence, a surge in orders have made lead times to grow from 15 months in 2014 to four years in 2023. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Sanjeet Sanghera on this fascinating topic, which was more complex than we originally thought, but extremely rewarding and interesting. He is a great person to work with and I cannot wait for further opportunities to do so. From a personal perspective, this topic also brought back memories from electrical circuits at Universidad Pontificia Comillas as well as my time in TORYTRANS S.L. - Transformers Manufacturing. Bloomberg and BNEF subscribers can access the whole report on www.bnef.com and the Terminal. The whole report also includes analysis of the main players and their reasons to be cautious to increase capacity, as well as a summary of the struggles of obtaining grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES), needed to manufacture the transformer core. This topic also had its 'things to watch': Sung Choi reacted to the acquisition of US Steel by Nippon Steel last December. This move not only had implications from the GOES perspective, but from the automakers' perspective as well. 

If I am entirely off base, let me know. I see all this chatter about #genai using so much power and being a detriment to our environment. I don't see similar statements on how our digital #datalake and streaming #netflix lives impact the environment outside of what I've seen from Greening of Streaming. (Thank you, Greening of Streaming, btw :) We are a high-tech society of humans, so we will impact the environment. How we use that to direct our future direction and sustainable innovation is up to us. Renewable energy is a start. I've seen promising progress in fusion energy as well. We can also be more efficient with our energy while attaining the desired output. At the end of the day, like me, if you use electricity, you are to blame. It's up to all of us to make it sustainable. </endrant>

PowerPod is developing a network that allows individuals to share their private electric vehicle (EV) chargers with others, leveraging peaq IDs for easy identification and management. This effort addresses the issue of limited charging options, known as "range anxiety," by making more chargers accessible to the public. The initiative aims to expand the charging infrastructure, making EVs a more viable option for a wider audience. PowerPod's system includes a portable adapter that records charging session data, facilitating better network management and the groundwork for a rewards system.
