Have you heard of “TFO”? A.K.A. “Too F#$%ing Old.” No, I’m not talking about the trend in U.S. Presidents. This is what some employers (and investors) actually say when dismissing someone who’s past their ideal age cap. Welcome to AGEISM—something all too familiar to those of us in the middle-age crowd. At 55, I don’t identify with “TFO” in the slightest. On many levels, I’m just starting out, with ambition and ideas equal to my 25 year old self. And here’s the thing: I’m not an outlier. A 2020 study published in the American Economic Review found that middle-aged founders are not only successful—we outperform our younger counterparts. For the fastest-growing companies, the average founder’s age is 45. Even better? A 50-year-old founder is nearly 2x more likely to succeed than a 30-year-old, while founders in their 20s have the lowest chance of success. So why the bias and fascination with hipsters? “Creativity,” “non-conformity,” and “independent thinking” are often associated with youth. But these traits do NOT have an expiration date. At The Kite, my partner Christina Langdon and I help leaders, entrepreneurs and teams tap into this power with our proprietary Human AI (Awareness & Imagination) program. Awareness grounds you in the present. Imagination shows you what’s possible, breaking conventional boundaries—regardless of age. Whether you’re 35, 55, or beyond, you’re never "TFO" so "LFG"! Just ask Morris Chang. 😉 #Human AI #leadership #awareness #imagination #entrepreneurship #TheKite #ageism Cathy Csukas Melissa Painter Stefany Shaheen Gemma Toner Adam Rymer Greg Mayes Maryam Banikarim 🗽🚕 ❤️ Patricia Jo Boyers Ellen Schned

When Tamara Loehr and I started Concertina, we were driven by a belief that business could be done differently. For me, doing things the right way, even when no one’s looking, has always mattered more than simply doing what’s profitable. I’ve learned that true growth comes from building trust and staying true to your values. Our success at Concertina wasn’t a stroke of luck—it’s the result of fostering loyalty, showing integrity, and putting people first. Ethical companies set the standard for what creating real impact looks like. It’s these values that I hope will be the legacy we leave behind. #ethicalbusiness #businessforgood
