As launches to space become more frequent and private spaceports are planned across the globe, how must launchers and regulators work to ensure both range safety and public safety? 🚀 How do authorizing bodies operate in vastly different environments, such as government-owned complexes in the United States versus Rocket Lab’s private launch range in New Zealand? 🌏 To answer these and other launch safety questions, Colleen Stover talked to Robert Unverzagt, Principal Director of Civil & Commercial Launch Projects at The Aerospace Corporation and Nick Pearson Rocket Lab’s Manager of Safety & Regulatory Operations. 🎧 Watch The Space Policy Show to learn more: https://lnkd.in/egjMNvWE

https://lnkd.in/erWeurAf I do like my job! I get to work with the smartest and most capable people and do the most interesting things. Here we see the heart of a new concept that I call a Fugacious Thrust Deflector. Deorbiting a satellite at the end of its life can be surprisingly difficult, but it's becoming more and more necessary. As my colleague Jeff Lang puts it, "It's like camping, if you pack it in, you've got to pack it out.". With this invention, all you need to do is point your satellite in the right direction. This does the rest - it spins your satellite up for spin-stabilized flight, then it provides the deorbit impulse, and without the mass or complication of a Thrust Vector Control (TVC) system. Like most of my concepts, it's surprisingly simple.

Meet the British ‘space inspectors’ working for a safe blast-off. The UK could soon become the go-to European destination for space missions. As the UK aerospace regulator, we’re making sure that, despite reaching for the stars, companies have their feet planted firmly on the ground. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eRMjfaum

#CTPcraft and CTP related missions will never be postponed due to 'coolant leaks' or 'external pressurization' issues that routinely plague rocket-based missions. 'Why' we are still using only rockets to reach space is truly beyond me - while #newscience and vision are ignored. We'll NEVER attain practical multiplanetary civilization using rockets. Ever. We need to go next level. This is 'what' CTP is for. #newspace #newspacevision #futurespace #newpropulsion #propulsion #CTP
