🚀 Exciting news from the world's largest and most technologically advanced gamma-ray observatory! The CTAO Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatory has moved on with a thrilling new project step! 🎉 With the design phase complete, the team is now focusing on major infrastructure and software developments to operate intermediate telescope array configurations in the coming years. 🌍 In May, the LST-1, the first prototype of the Large-Sized Telescope at the CTAO's northern hemisphere site in La Palma, Spain, was joined by the 18-tonne mirror dish of LST-4, paving the way for the construction and assembly of LST-2 and LST-3 by early 2026. Meanwhile, in Chile also the construction of intermediate array configurations is underway, with the aim of reaching Alpha Configuration. 🌌 Gamma rays, produced when cosmic rays interact with matter, magnetic fields, or light, travel across the Universe, carrying information about the most energetic objects like active galactic nuclei and supernova remnants. The importance of CTAO in detecting these gamma rays is immense. 📡 📌 Learn more in CTAO's video library about the role of Cherenkov radiation in detection and how CTAO's unique mirror arrays gather light to make groundbreaking discoveries: https://bit.ly/46247lZ 🔭 #GammaRayAstronomy #ScientificDiscovery #Telescopes #Astrophysics Cosylab – supporting #DESY and #CTAO with essential software development

At the beginning of October, OHB Czechspace organized the TRR meeting (Test Readiness Review) in Prague with the European Space Agency - ESA, Czech Technical University in Prague (CVUT) and Compo Tech PLUS for SmartBeam project. The TRR meeting aimed to determine whether our project is ready to proceed with testing. The review evaluated key factors like bread board model design, test objective, procedures, and facility. SmartBeam project is a new technology development proposed by OHB Czechspace funded by FIRST! (Future Innovation Research in Space Transportation) which is an initiative of the ESA STS (Space Transportation) Future Launchers Preparatory Programme (FLPP). The objective of the work is to develop new affordable and reliable manufacturing method for Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) tube with integrated HMS (Health Monitoring System). The project is led by OHB Czechspace in collaboration with CVUT and Compo Tech PLUS. #SmartBeam #TRR #space #collaboration #CFRP
