In my advertising days (which seems like the stone age by today's standards), I witnessed the change of paradigm in brand positioning--from identifying (sometimes "inventing") a promise that was unique to your brand (known as the USP, or unique selling proposition), to finding ways to be the best in delivering the promise that made sense to the whole category. In other words, outdoing the competition in delivering what the market wants, rather than convincing the market to want something else (because it's what your brand offers), is the better way to differentiate your brand. It made sense then; it makes sense now. Oftentimes, we don't need to reinvent the wheel. Instead, learning how to do the same things better and more efficiently can be the most sensible path to success.

The hack to hitting goals is to break them down into the smallest interval of measurable steps to increase the odds of actually taking each step. Goals die on the vine when the incremental steps are too ambitious. Then measure your progress against those steps. P.S.
