Have you ever been part of a company that celebrates your arrival but seems to forget you the moment you leave? It’s a common situation, reflecting a culture that values contributions only as long as they directly impact the top/ bottom line. The message it sends about company culture is clear: people are viewed as replaceable parts rather than integral members of a team. Yet, the reality is that careers evolve. People look for new challenges, better opportunities, or simply a change of scenery. The end of an employee's tenure doesn't negate their contributions or the relationships formed along the way. This feeling is deeply ingrained at XtraMile. Here, the belief is that every team member, whether currently with us or having moved on, remains an important part of story. Our founder, Sten Ove Elvegård, says, “It’s important to keep in touch with previous employees. They are our ambassadors out in the world.” Take the story of Ole Martin Thorshaug Kristiansen (pictured), for example. After leaving XtraMile in November for a new opportunity at 62°NORD Hotels & Adventures, our founders made a promise to celebrate his contributions properly. True to their word, he was invited to a belated julebord (Christmas gathering) last week, where we celebrated past achievements and new beginnings. It was so fun to catch up with Ole Martin, share stories, and hear about his adventures since moving on.
