As a career, or pursuit of study, financial services and planning, should be considered, strongly.
No doubt, it takes aptitude and attitude, to make a go of it in the financial services profession. But. Such a career can also afford you a certain level of independence, and latitude, not to mention performance-based earnings, that should not be dismissed out of hand.
At the very least, gaining, or improving, one's personal knowledge base on financial planning issues is incredibly helpful.
And then, the prospect of being able to offer others, well-researched, well-presented, recommendations, that can help secure, or at least solidify, their financial future, can turn a job, into a vocation, highly valued.
