That the bicycle is a convenient mode of transport, is nothing new to the good people of the Netherlands. We are known for our cycling habits and for structuring dedicated routes and lanes for cyclists within our cities, making the Netherlands one of the cycling-friendliest countries on the planet. Which is why countries, like France, reach out to the Netherlands – seeking a solution to adhere to the growing demand and popularity of cycling, and to adjust their infrastructure to this growing demand. It is mainly because of the Covid pandemic, the Olympic Games of 2024, and the growing need for a sustainable mode of travel, that cycling has drastically popularized in France – providing opportunities for Dutch companies to help reshape France's infrastructure, enabling them to comply to the need for sustainable modes of transport. The report “Pedaling progress - a Dutch solution for bicycle parking” (by the Netherlands France Chamber of Commerce) zooms in on the opportunities for public-private partnerships around creating bicycle parking spaces in France. #BremenGermany is a top 10 #cyclingcity in Europe and considered the most bike friendly city in Germany but what inspired me the most while biking around here was the #BicycleTourism and the infrastructure outside of the urban core of the city that support it. This video shows a ride out to the charming rural landscape of the Borgfeld region on converted rural bicycle prioritized roads and built multiuse paths that, together with excellent wayfinding, form a very well connected rural cycling system. Although this day was German Labor Day, these roads and paths were packed with all ages from #8to80 These conversions make for truly wonderful biking experiences and are the epitome of bicycle tourism, and I can see this implemented anywhere with the right vision. According to a recent German bicycle tourism analysis, 37 million people – more than half of German adults – cycled during holidays or as part of a day trip in 2023, with shorter bicycle trips generating €2-3 billion and longer trips generating €6-7 billion. FYI, in 1980, Bremen was the location for the first Velo-city conference European Cyclists' Federation Handelskammer Bremen - IHK für Bremen und Bremerhaven Bremen Tourism & Convention #ruralcycling #healthylifestyle #germany #germancycling #ruraltourism #bikingculture #europeancycling #cyclingisforeveryone #cyclingtourism #deutschland #velohagen #Bremen #visitbremen

🚲 Throughout September, we took part in a Germany-wide biking challenge, known as “Stadtradeln”. This marked our third consecutive year of participation in this sustainable and active event. 🌱 For 21 days, our team made an effort to choose biking over other modes of transportation such as cars or public transit. This commitment to cycling not only promoted a healthier lifestyle but also had a significant positive impact on the environment. By opting to bike, we successfully avoided emitting nearly 400 kilograms of CO2 into the atmosphere. Over the course of these three weeks, our team collectively cycled 262 times and covered a remarkable total distance of 2,400km. 🏆 These achievements allowed us to break several personal records from previous years: We cycled more kilometres than ever before, avoided a greater amount of CO2 emissions, and climbed higher in the rankings within the Hamburg city cycling teams. Our efforts were not only a testament to our commitment to sustainability but also showcased our ability to work together towards common goals. 💜 Thank you to everyone who joined the challenge – let’s aim to surpass our personal records once again next year and avoid even more CO2 emissions. #deepmedia #digitalmarketing #stadtradeln24 #sustainability #cyclingchallenge #ecofriendly #teamwork #corporateresponsibility

Today, on World Bicycle Day, we celebrate a powerful tool in the fight against climate change: the humble bicycle! What is key to creating a thriving cycling community? Look no further than our home, the Netherlands for a shining example. With over 22 million bikes and a network of dedicated lanes and safe crossings, cycling is more than just transportation - it's a way of life. The Dutch have invested heavily in cycling infrastructure, secure parking, and even created incentives to get people on bikes. Plus, educational programs promote respect between cyclists and drivers, creating a smooth and safe cycling experience for everyone. At Viable, we're passionate about protecting and regenerating our natural world. Biking is one of the most energy-saving ways to travel! It's even more efficient than how some animals move around naturally. In fact, cyclists only burn about 0.15 calories per pound for every mile they ride. They're zero-emission machines, meaning every ride you take is a victory for clean air and a healthier planet. Swipe through our carousel to see the highlights of cycling in the Netherlands and share your thoughts in the comments below! #ClimateAction #SustainableTransportation #ViableCommunity #GreenHacks #BikeinNetherlands #Sustainability #ClimateChange

Sri Lanka facing acute mismanagement of public transportation (hampered by drug addicts, poor services, lowsy time tables, insecured late services), and on the top of that bankrupted economy created dire situation where people no longer afford to pay for fuel (I personally spend 2 hours to reach work place nowadays). Maximum utilization of (creating and maintaining) Cycling paths, shady trees in cities, park and ride facilities will do wonders not only for the economy but also for the grand environment. And development of nature friendly tourism segment too. We at least now stop decades old practice of waiting for grand scale investments, instead let’s make home grown solutions until they reach you. https://lnkd.in/e7a6dKeQ

🍰 Traffic-free riding in cities? Yes, it is possible, and it can be great fun – with plenty of sights to see and cake to be eaten. The UK’s congested cities might not be the obvious places for a traffic-free cycle ride, but you might be surprised. Our cities and towns have parks, towpaths, former railways, and in some cases even forests where cycling is permitted and very enjoyable. We have listed 13 of the best traffic-free cycle rides in UK cities and towns. These are all ‘day-out’ rides rather than the kind of segregated cycle lanes we want for cycling to work. They’re suitable for cyclists of all abilities and many are family-friendly. So if you live in or near one of these cities or towns, or you’re visiting one soon, why not get out on your cycle? 🔗 Have you cycled any of the ones on the list? Let us know your favourites! https://lnkd.in/eNSatQnZ
