Giving Back is the Cooperative Way: A Message from CEO Donnie Spivey "As you enter this season of traditions and celebrations, I urge you to focus on the important things in your life—faith, family and friends. It is so easy to get caught up in the “busyness” of the season, that we don’t allow ourselves to take the time to truly enjoy the most important parts of our lives." Couldn't have said it better myself and if you're so inclined, get a king cake this year or buy a t-shirt, go visit this magical city, book an event there. Support New Orleans any way you are able. __________ As people that call this strange, beautiful, and complicated place home, we recognize that those we welcome here keep the lights on. We might not do everything right as a city, but we excel at being a host. We embrace those we don't know like family, share our kindness, and set a global example of how to live a full life. The time to celebrate the culture and people below sea level we cherish so much is on the horizon and whether we're ready or not, Twefth Night comes Monday to begin our Carnival season. Normally, this is our favorite time of the year that brings so much joy, creativity, and celebration of our community's shared experiences displayed proudly, but there's no way to brush away this stain or wish away what we've just witnessed. Hopefully a sense of togetherness can counter balance this great loss and allow us to grieve the only way we know how - taking our hearts to the river to let her wash over us and give us strength to keep going. __________ For the entire commentary: https://lnkd.in/gTiQc385

Starting my weekend with some self-reflection and relaxation. With a full schedule ahead—family visits, volunteer orientation, the American Heart Association walk, and the NJ Devils preseason opener with Sean—it feels good to take a moment to reset. Thank you Maryellen Herrera, CALA for lending me *Get Out of Your Own Way* by Dave Hollis. It’s been a helpful guide in managing stress and reminding me to not stand in the way of my own success. When we focus solely on work, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and discouraged if we don’t meet our own expectations. How can we pull back before we hit that breaking point? Lean on your support systems and take it one day at a time.

🎅 The Story of Santa Claus: A Blend of History, Marketing, and Magic 🎄 Santa Claus is more than just a symbol of holiday cheer — he’s a fascinating blend of tradition and modern creativity. Did you know? The roots of Santa trace back to Saint Nicholas, a 4th-century bishop renowned for his kindness and generosity. Over time, folklore transformed him into a magical figure who embodies giving and joy. But it was Coca-Cola in the 1930s that gave Santa his now-iconic look. Illustrator Haddon Sundblom created the jolly, red-suited figure that has become synonymous with Christmas. Why it matters: Santa is a reminder of how powerful storytelling and branding can be. His evolution from a historical figure to a global cultural icon shows the impact of creativity, consistency, and connection. What we can learn: 1️⃣ Generosity builds trust – Whether in life or business, giving without expecting in return creates lasting relationships. 2️⃣ Consistency shapes identity – Santa’s consistent image for decades shows the power of a clear, enduring message. 3️⃣ The magic of joy – Small acts of kindness, much like Santa’s gifts, can bring light to others. As we wrap up the year, let’s channel a little Santa spirit in our lives and work: spread joy, inspire others, and create a legacy worth celebrating. 🎁✨ What’s your favorite Santa story or holiday tradition? The best way to spread holiday cheer? Singing loud for all to hear! I love watching Elf, but delivering holiday gifts takes more than just reindeer power and i am a high functioning procrastonator when it comes to gifts.
