Terrestrial Storage of Biomass is an innovative, large-scale, affordable, and fully additional carbon removal approach. 🪵Methodology focuses on activities that store or bury woody biomass under conditions preventing decomposition. 🪵Requirement for maintaining containment conditions of stored carbon for a minimum of 100 years. 🪵Eligibility criteria include having a net-negative overall carbon footprint for the activity. #Agrivoltaics and #CarbonRemoval will combine with #greenhydrogen to replace Petrochemicals to create abundance and restore Earth to Preindustrial Conditions. Sunshine, air, water, and carbon are recycled endlessly by nature. We can eliminate scarcity and pollution with good engineering and public policy that puts a price on pollution and rewards net benefits to society and the environment.

Misplaced concerns about particulate emissions are leading some authorities to hesitate about biomass as a source of green heat. In the first place, modern biomass technology produces negligible particulate emissions. What's more, the areas of primary concern for air quality are cities. Not only are most UK cities already beating the 2040 air quality target (source: Statista) but biomass heating is far more likely to be found off the gas grid, which is usually a more rural environment. Biomass Carbon Removal: A Roadmap for Sustainable Biomass Sourcing As we work toward achieving net-zero emissions, biomass-based carbon dioxide removal (biomass-CDR) has become a cornerstone of climate strategy and is currently the leading CDR pathway. However, with increasing competition for biomass from the bioenergy and biomaterial industries, it is vital to determine which biomass types are best suited for CDR, how to avoid displacing them from higher-priority uses, and how to minimise potential environmental and social impacts. So, what safeguards should buyers consider when purchasing carbon removal credits from biomass-CDR projects? At CarbonX Climate, we advocate for a thorough assessment of the biomass's counterfactual scenario and potential market leakage. Achieving the right balance between carbon removal goals and sustainable land use is essential for maximising the potential of biomass in #CDR. Establishing strong baseline conditions is complex and highly context-dependent, varying by region and evolving over time, which requires ongoing reassessment in response to market changes. The U.S. paper industry was among the first to take voluntary action to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In 2020, U.S. paper companies had reduced GHG emissions (CO2 eq) per ton of product by 24.1% from a 2005 baseline. Study confirms sufficient #biomass potential to reach sustainable #aviation fuel goals. 🌱✈️ A new report produced by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s DECARB program examined the role of biomass in reducing greenhouse gas #emissions across the economy. Oak Ridge National Laboratory's John Field provided biomass feedstock production expertise to the report, which confirmed that the nation has enough biomass potential to produce 35 billion gallons per year of aviation biofuel by 2050. https://lnkd.in/esfQxwJa
