The majority of models are of the scale 1:43, meaning that 1 inch (2.5cm) of the model relates to 43 inches (109.2cm) of the full size car it represents. This particular scale model, made by the manufacturer Spark, stands out for a number of reasons so has been highlighted in this month’s Object in Focus. Firstly, it is one of the most recent objects acquired for the Collection. This is indicated by the object number showing the year it was acquired (2024) and the allocated item number (002). The fact that it is a Formula One item also makes this exciting and more interesting to a wider ranging audience. If museums are thought of as focussing on the past, this object definitely comes under the heading of “something more modern”! Aston Martin re-entered the world of Formula One in 2018 as title sponsor with Red Bull Racing. They then became a stand-alone team in 2021, with sponsorship partners Cognizant and Aramco, and are certainly proving a team to watch. This particular model is of the 2023 season car AMR23, driven at the Bahrain Grand Prix by Fernando Alonso. You can even see the tiny version of Fernando sitting in the model car! The model represents a lot of ‘firsts’ – Bahrain is the first Grand Prix of the season, so was the first Grand Prix outing for AMR23. Double World Champion Fernando Alonso was announced as the new team driver in 2023 so it was his first Grand Prix race for the team. The sibling to the Valkyrie - the Aston Martin Valhalla! RB-003, the Valhalla was first unveiled back in 2019. The development has been long in the making, but it is just about ready to have its moment, as the final stages before production are taking place. Powering the Valhalla is a bespoke Twin Turbo Flat-Plane AMG V8 w/ 3 electric motors making 937hp and 737ft lb of torque. That power pushed to the wheels through a 8-Speed Dual Clutch Transmission. The Valhalla is no slouch either. Aston Martin claims it will do 0-60 in under 2.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 217mph. Proper performance. It is said that Fernando Alonso was involved in the development process as well. However, the Valhalla won't just be some blunt tool. It combines the refinement of an Aston Martin Grand Tourer, with technology & performance derived from F1 cars, as it was developed in collaboration with Red Bull Racing (just as the Valkyrie was). A harmony of awesome prowess and comfort. Aston Martin is set to build 999 examples, will prices starting at around $800k. It’s not a G650 but a Global Express There has been a lot of news about Cristiano #Ronaldo’s new aircraft & posts from people who don’t have a clue, it was bothering me so I thought I’d post the real facts. Just like the Robb Report along with many more outlets posting without research & just copying one another, here is the correct information. The aircraft is a 2010 Bombardier Global Express XRS BD-700-1A10 with Seriel Number 9365 to be precise. The aircraft originally belonged to Sezgin Baran KORKMAZ of SBK HOLDING which was based in #Istanbul. It was last painted in July 2017 by RUAG MRO International Munich, Germany with base paint color’s of grey stripe’s, with silver on the vertical stabiliser featuring a carbon fiber design. It was registered as TC-YAA, & was up for sale for a while until a broker firm bought it & took it out of the country registered as T7-L65 in January 2023. Before that it was registered as C-FXYY, N75ZZ then as TC-YAA. The lucky buyer liked the paint work so much that all he had to do was put his logo on it, he also pretty much keeped the #aircraft just as he bought it. Last if all the price that’s quoted everywhere I can confidently say that you can almost buy six of these for that price! The Valkyrie is undoubtedly one of the greatest cars Aston Martin has ever created, but many feared that gearheads wouldn't be able to handle its insane power on public roads. This is why Aston Martin is building the Valhalla. What We Expect The Valhalla shares many design cues and technologies with the Valkyrie, but it has a twin-turbocharged V8 paired with two electric motors as opposed to the Valkyrie's naturally aspirated V12.
