First International Meeting: "Prevention, Investigation and Punishment of Workplace Harassment, Sexual Harassment and Violence in the Workplace". Organized by the Centro de Estudios de la Administración del Estado (CEA) of the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Chile (CGR). The main objective of this meeting was to carry out a practical analysis of the implications and implementation of “ILO Convention 190 (2019)” and “Law No. 21.643, which amends the Labor Code and other legal texts (Ley Karin)”. For this purpose, the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic has invited national and international authorities and experts. On 26th October 2024, a new duty for employers to proactively take steps to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace came into force. 👉 The Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023, amends the sexual harassment provisions in the Equality Act 2010. 👉 It is supported by the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s (EHRC) updated guidance on the prevention of sexual harassment in the workplace, which indicates that employers have a preventative duty that applied to actions related to both employees and third parties. 👉 It states that "the preventative duty includes prevention of sexual harassment by third parties." ❓To help you navigate what this means in practice, our legal team have put together the most frequently asked questions on the recent changes. 🔗 Members can access the FAQ here: https://bit.ly/3YpFlsu
