Last week our head of meteorology at ElTiempo.es MAR GOMEZ presented to young women at the Iberdrola Campus about pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and taught them about the possibilities that meteorology has to offer. Her presentation included demonstrations on how her team predicts forecasts and showcased how her training in physics has provided her with opportunities in the digital space as well as becoming a meteorology manager at a leading multi-platform weather information provider. "Curiosity is the driving force of learning, and it motivates me to continue growing and seeking new opportunities," says Gomez. "As Aristotle said, 'What requires a lot of work is achieved more and is loved more.' In my case, this is true: effort, perseverance, and dedication have enabled me to lead the great meteorology team at eltiempo.es and to establish my own brand image." #WomenInSTEM #CareersInStem #JoinOurTeam #YouWantToWorkHere #Iberdrola #Meteorology

Indigenous people and communities feature prominently in Pelmorex’s weather and climate programming. Former journalist at The Weather Network Waubgeshig Rice sat down with us to share about his time working with us at the beginning of his career. "When I first started on-camera at The Weather Network as a reporter I was really encouraged by the news manager at the time to do stories about the Indigenous communities in and around Toronto," said Rice. "And that was empowering for me as a young, Indigenous journalist to know Indigenous stories were valued and there was a keen interest in them." Now later on in his career as a bestselling and award-winning author, Rice is one of four members of Pelmorex's Indigenous Advisory Circle — a paid committee of Indigenous members across Canada with backgrounds in broadcasting, media or in Indigenous knowledge and leadership. This committee was established two years ago with the hopes of helping Pelmorex deepen our commitment and service to Indigenous people across all areas of our business and support employees when executing Indigenous-related projects and stories. Join us in celebrating National Indigenous People's Day today by following our The Weather Network and MétéoMédia social accounts and web pages today as they highlight some of the Indigenous stories they have produced. #NationalIndigenousPeoplesDay #NIPD #NIHM #IndigenousStorytelling #InclusiveStorytelling

Our president and CEO Nana Banerjee believes climate is the driver of human industry and activity, influencing everything from the goods people buy and use to their daily schedules. As we evolve into being a more AI-centered company, Banerjee's vision is to use the magic of artificial intelligence to provide users with the most tailored predictions it can offer through features such as The Weather Network's Your Weather Assistant. “Your Weather Assistant is designed to be the one-stop shop and comprehensive repository of climate information, fully integrated into a proprietary ensemble of Large Language Models, enabling magically useful responses with the power of artificial intelligence," says Banerjee. "We were the first to use generative AI to do that — no one has caught up yet — and we’re already working on the next generation to make it more valuable and interesting for our users.” Banerjee sat down with Binghamton University to discuss how he plans to continue to use AI for better forecasting and more. We're thrilled to announce the launch of a first-of-kind ad campaign using an AI-Assisted Avatar. What does this mean? By leveraging the power of AI, we have created an AI-Assisted Avatar of our very own content creator and presenter, Rachel Schoutsen to help deliver summer forecasts across Ontario. The Weather Network partnered with Home Hardware Stores Limited to showcase storefront and local store callouts where Rachel’s AI-Assisted Avatar covers an Ontario summer forecast, plus a summer sale call to action, designed to drive traffic to Home Hardware locations across Ontario. “This partnership puts Home Hardware front and centre when Canadians are engaging with weather content and planning for the summer ahead,” says Simon Jennings, CRO, The Weather Network. “Canadians want to know what to expect as they plan their busiest social days and holidays and can purchase the right products for the weather forecast in their area.” See this exciting AI development in action by watching the video below, and keep your eye out for Rachel's avatar on screens throughout Ontario. #AI #PowerOfAI #AIDevelopment #HomeHardware #SummerForecast #PartnerWithUs #WeatherWhenItReallyMatters
