Different problems require different solutions. A question I often hear from home service business owners is: "Should I invest in Google Ads or SEO?" My answer will always depend on where your business stands. Think about where you'll get the most bang for your buck. 👉 Are you trying to dominate your local area? Do SEO. 👉 Are you looking to expand, buy more trucks, and hire more tradesmen? Do SEO. 👉 Is one of your trucks parked for half the week? Do Google Ads. 👉 Did you just start out and have a few jobs now? Do Google Ads. It's not a one-size-fits-all. Spend your money where it counts. And if you're not sure what to do, consult an expert. The right guidance will make all the difference.

People think being a good SEO is about rankings. It's not. Being a good SEO is all about: Curiosity. Pattern recognition. A hunger to learn. A desire to share information. Common sense. Commerciality. Client empathy. Rankings will usually come with all the above when combined with the right budget. Some of the worst SEOs I know display an abundance of: Hubris. Deceit. Rudeness. Obssesion with income (and showing this). Obssesion with traffic. I'm not saying that the path to being a good SEO is paved with riches. You'll earn a good wage for your efforts. And I've seen more 'wealthy SEOs' who were useless. That choice is yours. Get rich quick or get good over time. Rarely can the 2 co-exist. Food for thought.
