Action Alert: Ask Your Members of Congress: Oppose Cuts to Education and Workforce Programs in FY 2025!

Really looking forward to meeting practitioners, regulators, charities, funders, academics and innovators etc. at the International Access to Justice Forum in Toronto at Osgood Law School 23-25 October. It comes at a critical time in the world. I will be sharing my recent research in the hope it can improve things. Paper is: ‘Addressing Powerlessness’ Around the world, colonised communities are still significantly impacted in terms of their life outcomes and ability to advance the sustainable development goals (SDGs Access to Justice is SDG16), due to the impacts of colonisation on various minoritized populations. This includes ongoing poverty, inequality, poor mortality rates and negative health and well-being. The growing body of international research cannot be ignored. This research and impact evaluation over 3-4 years reports on and examines the effectiveness of this Health Justice Partnership (Hume Riverina Legal Service & Albury Wodonga Aboriginal Health Service) which aims to improve justice and social determinant of health outcomes for Aboriginal community members experiencing poor mental health and well-being. This paper will explain the methodology, why it is used and look at the inroads made over time and lessons learned emerging from the empirical data that might be used internationally. Public trust in government is essential to a strong democracy.   At No. 9 of the #PartnershipTop10 is our 2024 trust in government work. We're incredibly proud of our work in analyzing public trust in government, creating resources to spread Engaged Trust and improving the narrative around government and public servants. This year, we accomplished the following:   • Held our second annual Trust Summit to discuss public perceptions of government and the value of a nonpartisan civil service: https://lnkd.in/e6sMwH8v • Released the "State of Public Trust in Government 2024" report that showed, despite declining views of the federal government, the public overwhelmingly supports a merit-based, nonpartisan civil service: https://lnkd.in/eA78JupA • Released the "Let's Talk: Rebuilding Young Adults' Trust in Government through Authentic Communications" report and held a panel discussion analyzing the factors that drive young adults' low trust in government and ways to engage and bridge the trust gap: https://lnkd.in/evDY4XRM • Joined the Television Academy Foundation to present "The Power of TV: Democracy in Focus."
