At PhysioMatters, we treat both Women AND Men! This Fun Fact Friday, let's ensure we also look after our male loved ones' health. 🔹Recent studies from the Mayo Institute show that men statistically have a five-year shorter lifespan than women.⏳ 🔹One reason: Men are often notorious for avoiding doctors and ignoring unusual symptoms. 🔹It’s important to look out for your partners, brothers, and male friends — listen to their health concerns and don’t hesitate to share your worries. 🔹As physiotherapists, we can’t diagnose medical conditions, but we might be the first to spot when a medical consultation is needed.🔎 🔹Your support could make a big difference—maybe even save a life! 😊 #Physiotherapy #PhysiotherapySG #physiotherapysingapore #physiotherapylifestyle #physiotherapycentre #menshealthm #physiotherapyday #physiomatterssg #recovery #wellness

As a psychologist and founder of MedQ, I’m passionate about integrating behavioural science into healthcare technology. One area where this is crucial is in the design of patient assessments. At MedQ, we see green and red tickboxes as potential sources of bias and anxiety for patients. 🔴🟢 Red often signals "incorrect" and green "correct," which can create a binary view of health that doesn’t capture its complexity. Imagine the unease a patient feels when their response turns a box red. Recognising this, we strive to create assessments that minimise emotional triggers and respect individual perspectives. By carefully considering the psychological impact of our tools, we aim to enhance patient comfort and accuracy in reporting their health conditions. #Healthcare #MedTech #BehaviouralScience #PatientCare #Psychology #PatientEngagement
Watch out for the unintended consequences of green and red tickboxes in medical assessments! Research suggests that green and red tickboxes increase bias and anxiety for patients. 🔴🟢 Red = "incorrect" Green = "correct" This creates a binary view that can lead to patients thinking their health condition is either right or wrong. Imagine the feeling of unease when a patient’s response turns the box red. At MedQ, we understand that health is complex and sometimes anxiety-inducing, therefore we designed assessments that minimise emotional triggers and respect individual perspectives. #PatientEmpathy #AssessmentAnxiety

💊 What Is Medical Gaslighting? 💊 Have you ever felt dismissed, unheard, or doubted by a healthcare provider when describing your symptoms? That’s medical gaslighting, and it’s a serious issue that leaves patients feeling invalidated and untreated. 🚨 What It Looks Like: Being told “It’s all in your head” when you report real symptoms. Having your pain downplayed or ignored entirely. Providers dismissing your concerns because “you look fine.” Repeated misdiagnoses or delayed diagnoses despite ongoing complaints. 🙅🏽♀️ Who It Affects Most: Women: Particularly in reporting pain or reproductive issues. Black & Indigenous People: Systemic biases lead to mistrust and invalidation Chronic Illness/Invisible Disability Patients: Often labeled as “dramatic” or “overreacting.” 💡 What You Can Do: 1️⃣ Trust Your Gut: If something feels off, it probably is. 2️⃣ Document Everything: Keep a record of symptoms, visits, and recommendations. 3️⃣ Advocate for Yourself: Ask questions, demand tests, and seek second opinions. 4️⃣ Find Allies: A trusted provider or support network can make all the difference. ⚡ Medical care should heal—not harm. If you’ve experienced medical gaslighting, know it’s not your fault. Your health matters, and your voice deserves to be heard. 💙 👉🏽 Have you ever faced medical gaslighting? Let’s talk about it in the comments. #MedicalGaslighting #PatientAdvocacy #TrustYourBody #HealthEquity #HolisticHealing
