Good read highlighting the necessity of recruiting young nuclear engineers due to the rapid retirement of experienced professionals. Let's also recognize the importance of trades and craft in constructing and maintaining nuclear plants. If you get a chance, talk to younger people as early as elementary and middle school about the benefits of a technical career in the nuclear industry. https://lnkd.in/gqeC--4R

Best invest in Building and talking about Fusion power, space, maritime propulsion systems and industry as data centres are. Great Headline, Guardian on Nuclear fission. https://lnkd.in/g8sMZtpR People talk about Nuclear (meaning Fission) and fail to discuss fusion. https://lnkd.in/ge_aeX7M The nuclear fission industry is ignorant of what's happening around it. It must pull its collective uranium heads out of the sand and prepare to enter the commercially growing fusion energy industry. Fission is moving towards obsolescence at an ever-increasing pace, as it is "out of step, out of time, out of place, and soon to be out of Fuel" and merely temporary. https://lnkd.in/gbd_mZqk By 2028, Helion is expected to start producing electricity from its first fusion commercial power plant, which will provide electricity to Microsoft. The plant will produce at least 50 MWe after an initial ramp-up period. https://lnkd.in/gY9J3MQY Now, see what is happening in the world of the fusion industry. https://lnkd.in/g9hMBD7a As fission trebles, fuel shortage is increasingly real, https://lnkd.in/gze5rwpr
Great to see Rolls-Royce SMR and Alan Woods on the front cover of the Nuclear Institute Nuclear Futures magazine 👏 We have lots of exciting career opportunities available currently, including two I am recruiting for as Senior Human Factors Engineer and Senior Operations Engineer.

Commenting on the safety of fusion reactors, Lane Carasik Ph,.D., assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering, spoke with Virginia Public Media regarding Virginia and Commonwealth Fusion Systems’ plan to build the world’s first commercial fusion reactor in Chesterfield County by the early 2030s. “There are major environmental…concerns associated with fossil fuels that we are not addressing, and the concerns around fusion are minuscule in comparison to those,” Carasik said. The IAEA Nuclear Infrastructure Development Section just issued a new publication on Contracting and Ownership Approaches. Gratitude to all the experts who shared their experience and produced a very clear document. This publication explores the variety of contracting and ownership approaches for a nuclear power plant, illustrated with recent case studies, to assist Member States in understanding the range of options available and the associated benefits and challenges of each approach. https://lnkd.in/d5vTa7D5
