📃Scientific paper: Microfracture-coagulation for the real robotic liver parenchymal transection Abstract: The use of the robotic approach in liver surgery is exponentially increasing. Although technically the robot introduces several innovative features, the instruments linked with the traditional laparoscopic approach for the liver parenchymal transection are not available, which may result in multiple technical variants that may bias the comparative analysis between the different series worldwide. A real robotic approach, minimally efficient for the liver parenchymal transection, with no requirement of external tool, available for the already existing platforms, and applicable to any type of liver resection, counting on the selective use of the plugged bipolar forceps and the monopolar scissors, or “microfracture-coagulation” (MFC) transection method, is described in detail. The relevant aspects of the technique, its indications and methodological basis are discussed. Exciting news in the vascular surgery field Prof. Hyhlik-Dürr, MD, and the team at University Hospital Augsburg have kicked off the pre-study phase of a multi-center study being led by the hospital's vascular department. They have officially performed their first endovascular surgery performed with the latest Brainlab innovation, Vascular Navigation PAD. The team expressed their satisfaction with the software's performance, highlighting its potential to save contrast agent, reduce radiation exposure and provide an enhanced overview of the patient's anatomy. If you want to learn more about this cutting-edge technology, Prof. Hyhlik-Dürr will be giving a presentation on Vascular Navigation PAD and sharing his expert insights at the MAC Symposium in Munich, from December 5th-6th. Stay tuned for more updates on this new innovation... hashtag #medtech hashtag #digitalhealth hashtag #vascularsurgery

In collaboration with Reto Kaderli, MD, FEBS and Rowan Iskandar, we recently developed a new decision-analytical model for parathyroid surgery that is now published in BMJ Open. Such early health technology assessments are useful evidence-based methods to address go/no-go decisions and rationalize R&D resource allocation. As available resources are scarce during the early phases of development, it is even more critical to weigh the expected benefits of an innovation to the developmental and opportunity costs. Interestingly, such tools are rarely applied in early translational research. In the context of parathyroid surgery, our study highlights the importance of weighing the a priori prevalence of disease types and finds that preoperative localization modalities should maximize specificity (minimize false positives) to avoid unnecessary invasive surgery. Furthermore, the intraoperative strategy should be adapted to the result of the preoperative scan. You can read the full study here: https://lnkd.in/eiyP68Ur

Intraoperative specimen radiography is continuing to transform breast-conserving surgery by empowering surgeons to make faster, reliable decisions in the OR. A recent study in Singapore using KUBTEC's MOZART® 3D Specimen Tomosynthesis System demonstrated a significant reduction in evaluation time — 23.6 min were saved when compared to conventional specimen radiography performed in the Radiology unit — while maintaining 100% concordance with radiologists.

Training residents in endoscopy requires a significant shift from traditional bimanual techniques to a fully endoscopic approach, demanding precision and dexterity. This new paradigm involves operating in confined spaces and maneuvering the endoscope and instruments all in the same trajectory, a stark contrast to classic methods. Watching residents master these skills and embrace this innovative approach inspires confidence. Together, we’re redefining spinal surgery and advancing the field through endoscopy. Minimally invasive. Maximally effective.
