Rest in peace Atul Subhash It is important to support the revolution lead by the unfortunate sacrifice of Atul Subhash. While it is arguable that suicide is not a legal act but imagine him just crying for justice and not dying for it. Would it generate the same spark among us all? Justice should be fare, not considering caste, community or gender. The current HMA is biased and must be changed. If India is moving towards the culture of marrying for alimony and maintenance, it is the worst thing that can happen to the gender that still drives the economy by its blood and sweat. Once enterim maintenance is decided, the matter should be closed fast-track and education/background/capabilities/status before marriage should be equally considered before deciding maintenance. bare minimum living cost in the city must be taken into consideration before deciding maintenance. #justiceformen

Somewhere in our consciousness , even as we go about our life routines, an unease prevails on account of unabated crimes against women, once again in limelight . Kolkata or Uttarakhand or anyplace in India or globe - crime is crime, its offensiveness unabated for violation of female dignity, imposition of gross humiliation and physical pain and loss of life . How is it acceptable to any one ? I distinctly recall listening to the story of Indian Freedom Movement in rapt attention and my teacher of History at school, decades ago , saying that the Indian movement for freedom gained power when the common man and woman embraced it , stepped out boldly to question colonial supremacy and bring about a sweeping change. A colonial giant was compelled to leave the Indian soil. Free India was born. I wonder when the physical safety of girls and women will become a mass priority for all Indians and all humans anywhere? When will each one of us acknowledge responsibility for the consequences of our silence, indifference and passive acceptance of criminality so blatantly visible around us ? How will we educate our young generation to be better, fairer, more ethical if we are so lacking ourselves? How will protection become real? I heard a song today as a forward on my mobile. I don’t know who the singer or lyricist are but it’s worth hearing and internalising among other strong voices speaking out. We, no exceptions accepted, need to develope a voice too, a conviction and a will to participate in bringing about a direly needed change. Stereotypes of what “ men will be “ and what “ women must be “ need to go, pronto. Some hard soul searching needs to happen. The next victim could be someone who matters to us and the perpetrator someone not far from us. The major question is are we witnessing reverse dowry demand by women and their families using welfare provisions of law? Well educated women are sitting at home and expect their husband to bear their expenses. This is further supported by laws, social perception, judicial interpretation, failure of higher judiciary to step in and fake political promises. This also leads to idleness in 50% of population i.e. women. We need to learn humanity not spirituality. Woman empowerment is to be holistic. None of gender is to recognized coz of physical being.
