The first internship experience of a Chinese student in the United States is really... It was so fun and awesome!! I interned at Hilton Columbus at Easton. My internship was in the banquet department. The main project I am engaged in now is to learn how to arrange banquets and how to prepare for banquets with my colleagues. Sometimes, I also learn how to arrange and hold regular meetings around leaders. The skills I am developing are related to the etiquette and hygiene of banquets and catering, such as the placement of coffee cups and the hygiene of knives and forks. All these are conducive to my future work in the hotel because the most important thing in the hotel work is to make guests feel enthusiastic, solve problems for guests, and ensure the most important health for guests. During the internship, I learned a lot of things, such as making utensils serving meals, etc. I am a very introverted person, but once I took the initiative to ask customers what help they needed and provided services to them, which felt really good. This is my first internship in a hotel, and I think it is a great growth for me, which makes me know what the specific work of the banquet department is, which can help my future career development.

The hospitality sector is incredibly welcoming, offering career opportunities to individuals regardless of their educational background. However, this accessibility shouldn't open the door to exploitation. Having interned at several hotels, I've seen firsthand the need for fair treatment of interns and non-managerial staff. They deserve equal pay and recognition, a conversation that should be more prevalent. This is particularly true where a strong hierarchical culture and large power distance exist. For the industry to recover and grow sustainably, we must value every team member's contribution. Let's advocate for this change and ensure the hospitality industry is as inclusive in practice as it is in principle. #rebuildingtrustinhospitality #internships #hotels #growth #future

It's good to see some people waking up to reality. I would never recommend anyone & certainly not my children to join the industry. For what? All this things about Mental wellbeing etc. Only seems to be lip talk on Social media. It's all forgotten in the name of GOP & NOP in the hospitality industry. It's no surprise that the industry is suffering today for the lack of qualified manpower. Fancy words are used 'Associates', 'Family' etc. The terms don't hold any value. If this continues, soon guest will have to sort themselves out from c/in to c/out. #hospitalityIndustry #humanresources

This is getting worse day by day! We must care about people otherwise these statements are putting the hospitality industry in darkness. I think this is also a big reason for the hospitality industry' s downfall because companies are not treating their people appropriately, they don't feel appropriated. After COVID there are many changes in hotels work culture, i would not like to mention the salaries and internship payouts but being a hospitality F&B Professional how tuff industry has became after the pandemic. We all have experienced everything in this industry and have seen many ups and downs. But the new generations professionals are not what professionals used to deliver before COVID. This pandemic has changed all the pictures of this hospitality because there are many things changed and which is automatically turned on different ways. I think we have to change our mindset and we must work on the new generation's professionals and we can take suggestions from them their mindset and thoughts are different still industry people can make a big difference.Lets make things better together and let's transform the culture and lets build the trust and respect for each and other no matter what position you are or other person hold in this organisation. Because they are the future of the upcoming hospitality industry. #Love #respect #people #hospitality #care #trust.

It's good to see some people waking up to reality. I wouldn't advise anyone to work in this field. For what reason? Lots of employees nowadays facing mental & health issues because of long hours shifts & no social life thats the biggest problem in this industry employee are only stucked in their work only & have no time to spend with their family & friends as well. Seems to be lip talking only on social media. The hospitality sector has forgotten all of this in the name of GOP & NOP. It comes as no surprise that the business is currently having trouble due to a shortage of skilled labor. We use fancy words like "family," "associates," and so on. The terms have no meaning. In the near future, guests will need to organize themselves from check-in to check-out if this keeps up. #hotelmanagement #worklifebalance

Here's a glimpse into my internship period that how restaurant kitchens operate on weekends. I'd like to extend my gratitude to all the chefs who trusted me and provided me with the opportunity to learn how to take orders, rather than just preparing ingredients for them. #InternshipExperience #InternshipLife #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #CareerDevelopment #ChefLife #RestaurantLife #CulinaryJourney #AppreciationPost #WeekendHustle #ProfessionalNetworking.
