Why should you have your roof cleaned and inspected by a qualified roofer yearly? Reason #1: Proper Ventilation Check Every roof needs to have some type of attic ventilation system, whether it is box vents strategically placed on the roof or a ridge vent across the peak. Improperly installed ventilation can cause moisture accumulation in the attic which can lead to nails, flashing, and other roof materials to rust or rot, ultimately resulting in damaging leaks. Excessive moisture can also allow for the growth of mold and mildew beneath your shingles, causing them and the roof decking to rot until the leak becomes apparent on the interior. When debris builds up on your roofing system, you may not see a leak begin for weeks or months. It is essential to have your roof cleaned and inspected by a professional at least once a year to help prevent damaged decking and ensure rafter stability. " Your Roof Is Our Reputation"

Re-roofing over existing shingles can be a practicable option in certain situations, but it is important to consider several factors before proceeding. 🏠 Here are some necessary points to keep in mind: 👇🏻 1️⃣ Condition of Existing Roof: Before deciding to re-roof over old shingles, assess the condition of the existing roof. 💡 If the current shingles are in good shape with no signs of damage or deterioration, re-roofing may be a feasible option. 2️⃣ Weight Considerations: Adding a new layer of shingles on top of old ones will increase the weight on your roof. 💡 Make sure that your roof structure can support the additional load to avoid any structural issues. 3️⃣ Quality of Installation: Proper installation is important when re-roofing over existing shingles to ensure a durable and long-lasting result. 💡 It is recommended to hire a professional roofer with experience in this type of project. I’m hiking in North Carolina with my family and I still notice issues on the roofs of homes we pass by I can’t help it – I’m a roofer 24/7! Anyway, PIPE BOOTS, man They’re small, but they’re doing some heavy lifting for your roof. Think of it this way… Your roof is like a protective shield, keeping the elements out. But what happens when there's a hole in that shield? Water can seep in, causing all kinds of trouble And guess what? Pipes can be a MAJOR source of those holes. 👉🏻 That's where pipe boots come in They're like little rubber booties for your pipes, sealing them off from the elements. Without them, you're basically leaving the door open for leaks, mold, and all sorts of other COSTLY surprises. Bottom line? Your roof is only as strong as its weakest link—don’t let the pipe boots be that link. Schedule a complimentary roof inspection with me if you’re in the Des Moines, Iowa area 📞 515-333-1892 Your roofing guy, Melvyn #roofing #construction #desmoines #multifamily #propertymanagement #roofinglife #roofingtips

How to Fix Lifted Shingles To fix lifted shingles, start by identifying the specific shingles that are raised, which can happen due to wind damage, improper installation, or normal wear and tear. Gently lift the affected shingle with a pry bar to access the nails underneath. Remove any damaged nails, apply roofing cement beneath the lifted shingle, and secure it to the roof. If the shingle is cracked or too damaged, replace it with a new one, ensuring the edges are sealed with roofing cement. However, it’s always best to leave this job to a professional roofer, as improper repairs can lead to further damage or leaks. Professionals have the experience and tools to safely and effectively fix the issue, ensuring long-term protection for your roof. #6 of the 10-point consumer checklist to Check Your Deck®: Cleaning & Maintenance: ● Clean away any leaves and debris, since these can be slippery and promote mildew. ● If mildew is present or the deck coating has worn away, make time to clean and apply a new waterproofing coating. ● It can help prevent the split, decayed wood, and loosened fasteners mentioned earlier. Checking a deck using this information does not constitute a code-compliant deck. It is intended to assist homeowners. Please seek a NADRA professional such as our company to get a complete deck evaluation. #NADRARocks #DeckSafetyMonth #CheckYourDeck #DeckSafety #NJDecksandRailings

It is extremely important to have a roofer that not only can install a shingle, but actually understand the more complex details. This roof is from 2016, and during my recent inspection found that they never installed enough venting. This has caused humidity issues that have completely ruined the decking, and shingles. Our job as a Restorer is much more than just tearing off & replacing, but to actually fix what caused the issue to begin with for the health of your property for years to come. Push for different bids, but don’t always consider someone just because they’re cheaper! #pauldavis #waterdamage #firedamage #restoration

How do you maintain Alside siding? ☀️ 🌧️ Rinse Regularly: Give your siding a quick refresh with just a hose and clear water. Pay extra attention to areas that don't get much rain. 🧽 Deep Clean When Needed: For tougher dirt, use a soft-bristled brush on a long handle. Avoid hard scrubbing to prevent a splotchy finish. 🪜Work Your Way Up: Wash from the bottom and work your way up to avoid streaks. 💧Final Rinse is Key: Always finish by rinsing the entire surface thoroughly with fresh water. By following these simple steps, your Alside siding will keep that “just-installed” look for years to come! ✨ For a list of FAQs and more info on siding maintenance, visit: https://ow.ly/cMNv50RpFP4 #HomeExterior #Siding #EnergyEfficiency
