"Designing thumbnails is about telling a story in one glance." 🎨 For this thumbnail, the challenge was to balance professionalism with intrigue. Here’s the thought process behind it: 🔍 Visualizing the question: The title “Dubai Real Estate: Worth the Investment?” was framed with bold, contrasting fonts to provoke curiosity while maintaining clarity. 🌇 Symbolic imagery: The Dubai skyline, with its vibrant architecture, was layered in a floating island design to symbolize opportunity but also evoke a sense of questioning—"Is this solid ground or just hype?" 🎭 Emotion through expression: Chintan Vasani’s surprised yet thoughtful expression was a deliberate choice to reflect the intrigue and depth of the conversation. 🎯 Strategic layout: Clean yet dynamic, the design draws attention to the question while leaving enough breathing room for the visuals to shine. This thumbnail is more than just an image—it’s a hook that promises insights and sparks curiosity. What do you think about the design? Does it make you want to click? I've decided to give away some time for free CV & Portfolio consultations to Architects and Interior Designers... My recent post with portfolio advice gained far more traction than I expected— it had over 25,000 unique views and I had lots of great people get in contact asking for advice. Clearly, there’s a strong demand for staying competitive in today’s market, so I’ve decided to open my diary next week for 15-minute consultations from 7 PM to 8 PM (GMT+7) each evening. If you’re in the UK or Dubai, remember to adjust for the time difference. This might be useful for many reasons: maybe you haven’t considered a new role for a long time and need to update your CV & Portfolio, maybe you’re actively looking and haven’t had much traction, or you might want to relocate overseas and want to make sure your portfolio stands out We’ll review your CV & Portfolio and discuss improvements that can give you an edge. Given the response to my last post, I’ll have to focus time on those within our specialism—Architects and Interior Designers (Mid-to-Senior level) based in Singapore, Thailand, Dubai, or the UK. If that’s you, please get in touch to book a slot for next week. Please direct message or send me an email at joe@sinopack.co.uk #interiordesign #architecture

🌿 From Concept to Reality: A Journey of Innovation Not every project we dream up sees the light of day, but every step in the process teaches us something invaluable. Here’s a glimpse into the evolution of a past concept design—a life-sized ceiling installation. 🌟 🌍 Conceptualization: It all began in our factory in China, where a small piece of potential was crafted with precision. A sample, showing the promise of a stunning ceiling installation. 👀 Visualizing: Next came the challenge of perspective—seeing how it would appear from afar. The bigger the dream, the more detail we needed. This wasn’t just about design; it was about creating an experience. 🌿 Transformation Begins: Fast forward to Dubai, where a blank canvas awaited. Piece by piece, we filled it with artificial plants, each one carefully placed to bring the vision to life. 💡 Final Look: Finally, the life-sized sample was fixed to the ceiling. We could see the full scale of our work, inching closer to reality. Every project, whether completed or not, adds to our journey and sharpens our skills. We take pride in the dedication and the lessons we gather along the way. 🌍✨ The process is always a masterpiece. ✨ #InteriorDesign #ArtificialPlants #GreeneryDesign #CeilingInstallation #DubaiDesign #CreativeProcess #DesignJourney #PlantDesign #Innovation #DesignLearning #FactoryToFinish #ArtificialGreens #PlantsDesign #PlantsDesignDubai

The Middle East market is becoming more competitive than ever. What should Architects and Interior Designers be doing to stand out to potential employers? In my recent conversations with Principals and Design Leaders across the region, there has been a huge increase in the amount of applications received but has not resulted in much success. There are several reasons why your application may not be moving forward but it is important to focus on the main 3 points below that you can control: 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐬: Whilst rendered images have a place, my clients want more than surface-level aesthetics. Your portfolio should provide a view of your skills. It should dive into the details of your projects, demonstrating your design skillset and technical abilities. A portfolio full of renders is going to have less success. 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐬 𝐊𝐞𝐲: In a competitive market, presentation matters. Invest time in making your portfolio look professional. A well-organised layout and attention to detail can make a significant difference in how you're seen by potential employers. 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: Don't be shy about showcasing your awards and accomplishments. Clients love to see what candidates have achieved. Make sure to feature any accolades or notable projects on your CV to showcase what you’ve achieved over the years. Design heads/hiring managers do not have time to look through 100s of pages, keep it concise and stick to the brief of what the company is looking for. If you are looking to discuss the above or seeking a new challenge, drop me a message and I’m happy to help. #architecture #interiordesigners #dubai #riyadh #middleeast

Excellent advice. Word of mouth and repeat business is the best reference you can get.

If you are not getting any recurring clients as an architect or interior designer, this video is for you. So, a recurring client is someone who has worked with you before and is now offering you another project. This basically happens for two reasons: #1 They are happy with your previous job #2 You kept in touch with them even after the project got over Now, the second reason is what most designers overlook because maintaining a relationship requires time and effort. But, that is what will get you recurring clients. So, here are 3 ways to improve your chances of getting a recurring client: #1 Drop in a personalised message on festivals. Have a ritual to take post occupancy feedback from the client 6-8 months after the handover. This will make them feel that you really care. #2 Be available for any reasonable post-handover work. It sets the tone that you want to make sure the client is truly happy with his space. #3 Ask them to follow you on social media. If they continuously see your work on their profile, your name will be off the top of their head when they want to start a new project. Comment “yes” if you want to know more about generating leads for your design business.

Hi everyone, Today, I want to discuss a very sensitive issue of designers. ✍️ Designers who agree to work without taking any advances from clients. I urge our community to avoid this practice, as clients are starting to take it for granted. I understand the desperation to secure business and stay competitive, but these actions are leading clients to expect the same from all of us. Now clients have taken this as a general practice. Despite our extensive experience and detailed portfolios, we are often asked to provide design concepts for free, with the promise of being hired based on those designs. When we refuse without an advance, clients often say that other designers are willing to do it for free, which puts us in a difficult position. Additionally, it’s disheartening to see that many clients don’t understand the difference between an architect and an interior designer. Please share your thoughts and correct me if I'm wrong. #apds #concern #architectissues #interiordesigner #genuinerequest #linkedin

Where are my fellow Interior Designers? I'm reaching out to our amazing community of interior designers for some guidance. As I continue to develop my professional journey, I'm considering joining a professional organisation to enhance my network, resources, and growth opportunities. I’m torn between two reputable organisations: 1. British Institute of Interior Designers (BIID) 2. Society of British and International Interior Designers (SBID) For those of you who are members or have experience with either, could you share your insights on the following? *Benefits* What have you found most valuable about your membership? *Resources* Are there particular resources or programs that stand out? *Networking* How has membership helped you build connections and grow your career? *Overall Experience* Would you recommend your organisation to fellow designers, and why? Your input will be incredibly helpful as I make this decision. Thank you in advance for your advice and experiences! #InteriorDesign #BIID #SBID #ProfessionalGrowth #DesignCommunity #Networking
