#HerEducationOurFuture On this International Day of the Girl, let us reflect on how, if properly supported and educated, girls have the potential to change the world. Yet there is so much still to do - nearly 1 in 5 girls are still not completing lower-secondary and nearly 4 in 10 girls are not completing upper-secondary school today. Around 90% of adolescent girls and young women do not use the internet in low-income countries, while their male peers are twice as likely to be online. This year’s theme, “Girls’ vision for the future,” seeks to empower girls, amplify their voices and support their agency to shape strategies and policies that ensure a better future for us all. We definitely have a role to play to support their development, as employers in STEM and privileged contributors to the workplace. To quote Malala Yousafzai, “We cannot all succeed when half of us are held back.” #girls #STEM #awareness https://lnkd.in/dMWfufkR

Happy International Girl Child Day. The 2024 International Day of the Girl theme is 'Girls' vision for the future'. This year's theme conveys both the need for urgent action and persistent hope, driven by the power of girls' voices and vision for the future. In 1995 at the World Conference on Women in Beijing countries unanimously adopted the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action – the most progressive blueprint ever for advancing the rights of not only women but girls. The Beijing Declaration is the first to specifically call out girls’ rights. On December 19, 2011, United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 66/170 to declare October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child, to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world. Today's Girl, Tomorrow's Future and World need to ensure their education without fail. Girls’ education goes beyond getting girls into school. It is also about ensuring that girls learn and feel safe while in school; have the opportunity to complete all levels of education, acquiring the knowledge and skills to compete in the labor market; gain socio-emotional and life skills necessary to navigate and adapt to a changing world; make decisions about their own lives; and contribute to their communities and the world. #GirlChildDay2024

📢 Empowering Afghan Women: Advocacy, Awareness, and Education For the past four years, under the challenging and restrictive rule of the Taliban, we have been tirelessly working to empower Afghan women through advocacy, awareness, and education. Our mission is to ensure that Afghan women and girls have the tools, knowledge, and support they need to thrive, despite the oppressive conditions they face. 🔍 Current Situation: Under the Taliban, Afghan women are deprived of their essential rights and access to all forms of education. Girls are banned from attending secondary schools, universities, and public places such as parks and gyms. The Taliban's policies are designed to confine women to their homes, leading to increased domestic violence and severe mental health challenges. Women are also punished for their clothing choices, and their male relatives face brutal repercussions for the actions of women in their families. 🌟 Our Work: Despite these harsh conditions, we have successfully transitioned from in-person to online education, growing from 50 to over 400 students. Our programs include: 📚 Classes and workshops in STEM, English, Math, IT, AI, coding, and graphic designing. 🧠 Mental health support to address the psychological impact of confinement. 🎓 Training on scholarship applications, CV writing, resume writing, and career guidance. 🎤 Motivational sessions with speakers to inspire and empower young women. Our advocacy efforts include organizing internet campaigns against the school closures and participating in global events such as those by Ziva Voices, Silatech Foundation, and Education Cannot Wait. We also engage with international media, including NPR Radio and various podcasts, to raise awareness about the plight of Afghan women. 💪 Our Commitment: We are committed to continuing our work, upholding feminist principles, and fighting for the rights and education of Afghan women and girls. We believe in a future where Afghan women can freely pursue their dreams and contribute to society without fear of oppression. Join us in our mission to empower Afghan women. Together, we can make a difference. 🌍💖 #EmpowerAfghanWomen #EducationForAll #HumanRights #Advocacy #Awareness #WomenEmpowerment
