We are excited to announce that our partnership with Gloucester Rugby is continuing as we become their Official BFR Partner 🏉 The club’s athletes will incorporate Active and Passive BFR modalities into their training and recovery routines to enhance strength, endurance and recovery speed. We will now expand the scope of research to explore BFR applications across a broader range of training sessions. https://lnkd.in/etRfAxUR I think that I read over a 100 comments on this and a number of related articles. And ultimately I come down in favour of the process as the Tier 2 Board includes existing Championship representation. In addition, selection of the two new clubs is based on a set of criteria that is consistent with creating a sound foundation including: (1) Minimum Operating Standards. (2) Finanacial Viability. (3) Player base, competiveness, commercial and geography. So the clubs' proposals should have to demonstrate that they are viable and have an expansion agenda. Interestingly, this would suggest that they should not all be based in south or west London as they would be competing against possibly Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club and definitely Harlequins and Saracens Group so in conflict with arguably (2) and certainly (3). But it does suggest London Irish Rugby Club, Wasps and Worcester Warriors might meed to adopt a flexible, franchise style approach to hit the mark. But I would like to know: (a) Who will be on the tender panel? (b) How will the money be used? (security or investment elsewhere in the levels below Premiership Rugby, other ways of improving supporter and player involvement). (c) More detailed criteria...at present it lacks the credibility of a properly robust process with a level playing field. And interestingly if any previously wound up clubs were to exist in a new format but with the same investors or using collateral from the previous incarnation, what would England Rugby and the Rugby Players Association have to say about unpaid rugby debts? So good start, but would definitely like more information as I am sure many other supporters would too.
Brilliant news for English rugby 👏 London Irish announced last night that they have officially submitted an expression of interest to the RFU to compete in the Tier 2 Championship league in 2025/26 ✍️ This comes a few weeks after Worcester Warriors made it public that they wish to compete. It’s looking more and more likely that we will see London Irish and Worcester return to top-flight rugby very soon 🏉 #rugby #englandrugby

The British & Irish Lions: Roaring Across Rugby History The British & Irish Lions, often simply referred to as the Lions, represent a unique fusion of rugby talent from England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. This storied team embarks on quadrennial tours to face rugby powerhouses like Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. Let’s delve into the rich history and exciting prospects of the Lions: 1. Origins and Tradition The Lions’ lineage dates back to 1888 when they embarked on their inaugural tour to Australia and New Zealand. The iconic red jersey, adorned with the emblematic lion, symbolizes unity across the four nations. The tradition of selecting the best players from each country ensures fierce competition and camaraderie. 2. Memorable Tours The 1971 tour to New Zealand remains legendary. Under captain Willie John McBride, the Lions secured their only series victory against the All Blacks. The 1997 tour of South Africa, led by Martin Johnson, saw the Lions clinch a thrilling series win. The 2013 tour to Australia showcased the Lions’ attacking prowess, with players like George North leaving indelible marks. 3. Upcoming Challenges The next Lions tour is scheduled for 2025, with Australia as the battleground. Who will don the iconic red jersey? Stars from the 2024 Six Nations, like Immanuel Feyi-Waboso, are in contention. The Lions’ clash with the Wallabies promises exhilarating rugby and fierce battles in the scrum. 4. The Spirit of the Lions Beyond the tries and tackles, the Lions embody sportsmanship, respect, and passion. The haka response, the camaraderie among rivals, and the shared pride in representing four nations make the Lions truly special. Whether you’re a seasoned rugby fan or a newcomer, keep an eye out for the Lions’ roaring journey Down Under in 2025. 🦁🏉 #LionsRugby #RugbyTour #Rugbypassion #Lionspride #SixNations

Another new sport library for SportsEdTV. RUGBY! And with quality talent Chris Brown. What brands support rugby and would like some great online activation opportunities? I’m thinking Athletic Brewing Co. would be a nice fit. Rugby players love a good beer after the game, but many athletes are ditching the alcohol. Or maybe Land Rover. Their vehicles are tough, like rugby players, and the brand does well in rugby crazy countries. What other brands do you think make sense for our newest sport? #rugby #sportsmarketing

Legends of English Rugby are bowing out tonight when Northampton Saints host Saracens in the Premiership semi-final. It’s going to be au revoir for either Courtney Lawes and Lewis Ludlam from Northampton or Owen Farrell, Mako Vunipola and Billy Vunipola. The winners will only have 1 more week before they are across the channel too. Whichever side of the fence you sit on it's going to be an emotional evening. The bigger picture is that these 5 players are going to be lost to the English Club Game. They have a lot still to offer, they don't want to go but their clubs can't afford them. This is the real sadness. From what's been reported all 5 would rather stay here and see their career out over the next number of years. Questions have to be asked of the RFU and Premiership Rugby. How has the Premiership been overtaken by France and Japan as the richest places in the world to play rugby? Why can't we afford to pay our players more than France and Japan?

What do the top four World Sevens Series International rugby sevens sides do well? I was asked why are the top four sides the best and what do they do really well to differentiate themselves? The obvious answers are: One that they have had "time together" as full time professionals to establish a playing side with a plentiful number of reserves ready at home to cover injuries and give the squad real depth and meaningful game based training. Secondly the players are better being more talented!- But this is not actually the case across the board! They are simply a better team and more together, with a clear game model, a healthy competitive squad culture (which goes back to having time together as professionals). But what about the way they play? What differentiates them? Here are my seven simple observations! 1. They recognise the importance of defence and set the side up initially to be hard to beat. This usually means three enforcers in the midfield with a real tackle and jackal threat. They usually score first as a result of a forced opposition error. 2. They set the side up with attacking flair, always ensuring they have two playmakers, and two top pace players on each edge. 3. Vitally they are PATIENT in attack recognising that they must move the opposition defence around if they are going to breach a world class defence via creating space or a miss match. 4. They move the ball quickly away from the breakdown stessing the defence. 5. Their edge play is excellent! They understand the need to go to the edge to move the opposition defence around and they realise the edge is an opportunity to create space elsewhere on a wide pitch! As a result they play 4-8 phases without being stressed! 6. Quite simply their support running is excellent "busting a gut" to support a "break", being either ready for the off-load/pass, or to run a legal blocking line to protect the ball carrier. 7. Their Kick-off play whether kicking or receiving is excellent with a clear understanding of primary and secondary roles, to ensure a higher percentage of possession! As a result a top four side will have real clarity and confidence in how to play their game and, as a result they know they will win if they execute well! #rugbysevens #worldsevensseries #internationalsevens #topsevensrugby #sevensdevelopment

Next, they’ll defend it against France in a game that carries even more weight thanks to this unique title—and it’s one that’s capturing the hearts of fans around the world. Although the Raeburn Shield isn’t an “official” trophy, it’s very real to the thousands of fans who engage with it every week.
