Fancy waking up to a Nintendo game soundtrack, gamers? Really bad idea, according to sleep science. Here's why... The ideal BPM (beats-per-minute) for wake up music is 100-130, according to social neuroscientist and musician Dr. Yeshaya David M. Greenberg. However, according to Spotify, the average BPM of video games is 140, rising to 170 for FPS (first-person shooter) games. Game play also triggers the release of cortisol, a hormone linked to stress. The dopamine rush (the "reward" neurotransmitter) doesn't come until intermissions or completion of game play, if at all. See, among others, Wagener et al in "Games, hormones, and “dark” personalities: Dark tetrad and the effects of violent gaming on aggression, cortisol, and testosterone" (ISSN 0031-9384). Waking up to an in-game soundtrack is very likely to depress serotonin (putting you a bad mood), increase blood sugars (causing you to crave junk food, among other ill effects), and max out your adrenaline & testosterone (causing stress and aggressiveness). But as a fun spin-off, we also found out about gamers’ favorite colors.   🔵 Blue is ruling the game! Not only is blue a favorite for gamers, but it also tops color popularity charts across the board. Platform Fighter fans (34%) and players who go for the highest difficulty levels (38%) especially love it. 💪 And here at Try Evidence, we’re pretty thrilled we chose blue as our primary brand color back in 2019—it seems we really nailed the gamer vibe! 😄  Our research also shows that gamers with a more competitive spirit tend to pick 🔵 blue.
