IEA has published that traditional string inverters outperform module-level electronics in partial shading applications. I find that using shade-tolerant modules (with more than three bypass diodes) and partial shading (10% module shading for 6 hours that moves across the module) narrows the application to cypress trees and chimneys. I would love to hear your thoughts.
