I had the great opportunity to volunteer at Bioneers for two events this past week through Women in Cleantech and Sustainability. A special shoutout to Beth Roessner and Sara Eve Fuentes (she/her) and our other volunteers Glauce S., Maíra Matsui, Jacey Coniff, Nithya Rajakumar, Jackie O'Dea, PMP, Julie Busch, and Evin E. Baysal The highlight was to help plan a session called "Women in Green Tech Shattering the Glass Ceiling. Key takeaway: 1. Be curious and be willing to learn. Sara Eve Fuentes (she/her) Co-Founder of Smart Waste, Inc., career trajectory came from curiosity and volunteering, resulting in her starting her own business and becoming chairwoman of WCS. 2. Surround yourself with people who want you to succeed. Kellie Macpherson with Radian sought guidance very early in her career, built relationships, which gave her the confidence to use her voice. 3. To calm the self-doubt: "You need to be willing to fail. Not trying something new is 10 times worse.", Kirthika J Padmanabhan, with X Moonshot Factory. 4. To maintain an executive presence: "Play to your strengths and stand tall", Kirthika J Padmanabhan. "Think and look at the end goal. This minimizes insecurities", Emily Michaluk 5. Pay it Forward. Emily Teitsworth with the Honnold Foundation implemented operational equity within her organization. This meant a "flat" organizational structure, switching to a 4-day work week (the 5th day is flexible), and mentoring her Gen Z staff on how to negotiate pay. #WomenInCleanTech #Bioneers2024 #SutainabilityHeros

Amazing time at #NKBAW2W conference this week - it was such an honor to be selected and just the boost of confidence I needed! I learned a ton from the amazing advisors (Woo team Sherry Hansel Qualls!) and each and every other woman - all amazing! - I talked to. Here are my top 3: 1. 💡 Find your light! 💡 (A lighting metaphor always works with this gal!) Inspiration from an amazing keynote by Laura Kohler - this topic set the stage for differentiation, and bringing our individual experiences forward as an advantage. I'm not successful despite my differences - but because of them. I am uniquely suited to make change and impact. 2. ⌚ Take the time to be all in ⌚ I believe it was Marcia Speer who shared that it had been so long since they were in a meeting when every person was focused and fully all in. And it was incredible! With so many competing demands on everyone's time, it can be so hard to focus on what's in front of you. The energy was palpable and the tradeoff (a tiny bit of evening work) well worth it. 3. ✨ People are more than their title ✨ Everyone in that room had more to contribute, beyond the job they do as a K&B designer or marketing manager or project lead (and even group category manager!) - take the time to see people. Tap into the energy of others. Connect and cultivate inspiration. What ideas does someone have to contribute that they have never been asked??
