Peter Wright’s Post

Last week I had a customer insist I use her photograph of her work to print from. In fairness she was trying to save money, so I agreed, pending a viewing on my calibrated screens. However: on the condition that she understood that taking a vital part of the colour workflow out of my hands means I have no control or reference, and can't make any guarantees of any kind. We went ahead with a print, collected, and she seemed happy. Fast forward 2 days and I get a message asking if I can do the full digitisation of the original and reprint. Of course i agreed, And gave her a nice discount on the reprint :-) Lesson: Never take a vital part of a calibrated colour process away from the specialist. Every step is there for a reason. I have calibrated lighting, polarising filters, a 60MP (240MP in pixel shift) camera and specialist lenses, calibrated screens, specialist viewing lighting, calibration charts for each shoot, a 12-ink archival quality printing system, each paper stock is profiled and proofed. And all that from just £45 per digitisation. - The final version: #giclee #printing #artprints
